eCapital

Acquires specialty lenders, builds fintech platform

Overview

eCapital unites financing for small and midsize businesses by acquiring specialized lenders and weaving them into its own tech platform. Its products include accounts receivable financing, freight factoring, commercial finance, and healthcare financing, all managed through a single tech stack that scales acquired portfolios. The company differs from others by using an aggressive M&A strategy to assemble a broad suite of industry-focused financing solutions rather than building new products from scratch. Its goal is to become a leading fintech powerhouse by expanding through targeted acquisitions and brand consolidation across transportation, healthcare, and other sectors.

eCapital delivers $10MM ABL facility to Florida flight training company.

eCapital delivers $10MM ABL facility to Florida flight training company. The financing provides critical working capital to support ongoing operations as the company executes a strategic turnaround plan and positions itself for future growth. eCapital, an AI-powered fintech company building the next generation of specialty finance, provided a $10 million asset-based lending revolving credit facility to a Florida-based flight training company undergoing an extensive operational and financial restructuring. The financing provides critical working capital to support ongoing operations as the company executes a strategic turnaround plan and positions itself for future growth. Brought in by the company's new CFO, eCapital worked closely with management to develop a customized working capital solution tailored to the complexities of the restructuring process, which included asset sales, cost reduction initiatives and broader operational changes. The facility features an enhanced advance rate on accounts receivable, includes a foreign receivables component without requiring credit insurance and allows an existing split cash flow term loan to remain in place. The flexible structure provides the liquidity needed to support day-to-day operations while enabling management to focus on executing its turnaround strategy. "The strongest restructuring outcomes occur when management has the flexibility to focus on execution rather than liquidity constraints," Mike Conrad, senior vice president, business development officer at eCapital, said. "Our role was to provide a financing solution that supports operational stability today while creating room for the business to pursue its longer-term objectives."

ECAPITAL UK names JOHN NELSON MANAGING DIRECTOR amid SME funding expansion.

ECAPITAL UK names JOHN NELSON MANAGING DIRECTOR amid SME funding expansion. ECAPITAL UK APPOINTS JOHN NELSON AS MANAGING DIRECTOR TO DRIVE NEXT PHASE OF GROWTH Invoice finance and asset-based lending specialist eCapital UK has appointed experienced banking executive John Nelson as Managing Director as the business continues its expansion across the UK's growing SME finance market. The appointment follows a sustained period of growth for the independent funding provider, which has significantly increased both its client base and lending capacity over the past three years while expanding the size and sophistication of its funding facilities. Strong growth supports leadership expansion. Over the past three years, eCapital UK has increased funds advanced to clients by 46 per cent, grown its customer base by more than 32 per cent, and expanded its funding facilities to support businesses requiring facilities of up to £6 million. The company says the continued growth reflects increasing demand from SMEs seeking flexible working capital solutions as traditional lending conditions remain challenging. Nearly four decades of financial services experience. Nelson joins eCapital with almost 40 years of experience across banking and commercial finance. During his career he has held senior leadership positions with Lloyds Banking Group, Royal Bank of Scotland and Investec, including almost two decades specialising in receivables finance and asset-based lending. His experience spans corporate banking, portfolio management, commercial leadership and risk management. Planned leadership transition. Nelson will become Managing Director while current Chief Executive Officer David Tilling transitions into the role of Executive Chair over the coming months. The company says the planned succession has been designed to provide continuity while supporting its long-term growth strategy. As Executive Chair, Tilling will focus on strategic development, organisational culture and strengthening the relationship with eCapital's US parent company. Nelson will oversee the day-to-day operations of the UK business, working alongside the executive leadership team to expand specialist funding solutions, enhance customer experience and continue business growth. He will also join the company's UK Board. Responding to growing SME demand. The leadership appointment comes as many UK businesses continue to seek alternative funding solutions amid a widening financing gap created by tighter lending conditions across parts of the banking sector. Invoice finance and asset-based lending have become increasingly important funding options for SMEs requiring flexible access to working capital while supporting investment and business expansion. Leadership focused on continuity. David Tilling said Nelson's appointment builds on the company's existing strategy rather than signalling a change of direction. "John is an exceptional leader with extensive experience across financial services and a deep understanding of the receivables finance and asset-based lending market. "His strategic insight, commercial expertise and collaborative leadership style make him the ideal person to lead the UK business through its next chapter. "His appointment reflects continuity rather than change. Our strategy, commitment to the market and focus on delivering exceptional outcomes for clients and introducers remain firmly in place." Tilling added: "London Business Journal has built tremendous momentum in recent years by supporting more businesses and expanding the scale and sophistication of the funding solutions London Business Journal provide. "As I transition into the role of Executive Chair, I do so with complete confidence that John and the leadership team will build on this success and deliver the next stage of our growth strategy." Building on an established reputation. Nelson said he was joining the business at an important stage in its development. "I am delighted to be joining eCapital UK at such an exciting point in its journey. "The business has established an excellent reputation in the market, underpinned by a talented team, strong client relationships and the backing of a strong parent. "There is a significant opportunity to continue growing its presence in the UK by helping more businesses access the flexible funding they need to thrive. "Developing relationships with valued introducers will also remain a key focus as the business continues to expand. "I look forward to working with colleagues across the business to build on the company's success and deliver the next phase of growth."
