EPOS at Digital for Life: empowering seniors with tech. EPOS is honoured to participate in the Digital for Life Festival, contributing its expertise to help seniors gain confidence with ordering kiosks and QR table ordering. Through approachable demonstrations and hands-on guidance, EPOS Pte. Ltd. aim to make digital tools more accessible to all. Supporting Singapore's mission of digital inclusion. The Digital for Life movement encourages every individual and organisation in Singapore to participate in building a digitally confident society. As one of the nation's established technology and AI innovators in the retail and F&B sectors, EPOS is proud to contribute its capabilities to this shared national goal. Its participation at the festival reflects a commitment that extends beyond business: using practical technology to uplift communities. With years of experience developing intuitive ordering kiosks, QR table ordering systems, and seamless retail solutions, EPOS Pte. Ltd. understand the importance of making technology approachable, especially for seniors who may be navigating digital interfaces for the first time. At the festival, its team demonstrated how simple, supportive guidance can empower someone to make their first digital order with confidence. Helping seniors navigate ordering kiosks with ease. Self-service kiosks have become common in neighbourhood hawker centres, food courts, and quick-service restaurants. While they improve speed and reduce queues, many seniors can feel intimidated by screens, steps, or new instructions. At its Digital for Life booth, EPOS trainers guided seniors through the process step by step such as: * Reading menu categories * Selecting food items * Adding or customising orders * Completing payment * Understanding digital receipts and collection points The goal was not simply to show how the kiosk works, but to allow seniors to experience it hands-on in a supportive environment. Many participants shared that what seemed overwhelming at first became surprisingly manageable once they understood the flow. By designing kiosks that prioritise clarity, readability, and intuitive navigation, EPOS ensures that these interfaces remain friendly to users of all ages. Introducing QR table ordering to first-time users. QR table ordering has rapidly become a staple in cafés, restaurants, and casual dining venues. Yet for many seniors, scanning a QR code and navigating digital menus is unfamiliar territory. During the festival, EPOS demonstrated how QR ordering can be effortless: * How to locate and scan a QR code * Opening the menu and browsing options * Placing orders directly from the phone * Asking for assistance if something goes wrong * Understanding the benefits: reduced waiting, less pressure, clear order summaries Participants were encouraged to try it themselves using their own phones. This built confidence not only in using QR ordering but also in general mobile navigation, which is a crucial step in improving senior digital literacy. Many were delighted to learn they could adjust font sizes, see clearer visuals, and complete transactions without queuing or feeling rushed. Creating comfort through human guidance. Technology becomes accessible when paired with patience and people who care. The EPOS team prioritised simple explanations and real encouragement, ensuring every individual felt heard and supported. * Using calm, conversational instruction * Reassuring participants that mistakes are normal * Repeating steps as often as needed * Allowing seniors to control the pace * Celebrating each successful order This human-led approach is essential to bridging the digital gap. It transforms digital tools from intimidating machines into useful, empowering companions. Why tech education for seniors matters. Digital adoption among seniors is rising, but gaps remain. Many still avoid digital ordering because they fear "pressing the wrong thing" or "holding up the queue". With Singapore's increasing use of automation and digital services, inclusive training is no longer optional but essential, especially for an ageing population. By helping seniors gain confidence with kiosks and QR ordering systems, EPOS supports a more connected, less intimidating digital future. This benefits everyone: * Seniors enjoy independence when dining or shopping * Businesses provide consistent service with shorter queues * Communities become more resilient and digitally capable The Digital for Life movement thrives when organisations step forward to share knowledge. EPOS is proud to contribute practical expertise that directly improves everyday experiences. Its commitment to a digitally inclusive Singapore. EPOS will continue participating in initiatives that promote accessible technology and digital confidence across all age groups. Whether through public events, community workshops, or collaboration with partners, EPOS Pte. Ltd. aim to make digital tools friendly, intuitive, and welcoming for everyone. Its mission extends beyond building advanced solutions: it includes ensuring that every individual can use them comfortably and confidently. * Retail and F&B: Digital Resilience Bonus The Digital Resilience Bonus (DRB) has expired on 30th June 2021.
