Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • March 2026 appointments sharpen nursing quality and external-affairs fundraising execution.
  • 2026 events like Cherish the Child and Bella Notte should deepen donor pipelines.
  • Recent grants bought respiratory and play-therapy equipment, improving care quality and resident satisfaction.

What critics are saying

  • The new center still needs additional fundraising, exposing execution risk before 2028.
  • Dependence on philanthropic grants like Toy Foundation and Children’s Dream Foundation signals revenue fragility.
  • If HUD financing, bond issuance, or construction slips, the young-adult expansion loses credibility.

What makes Elizabeth Seton Children's unique

  • Elizabeth Seton Children’s serves complex pediatric and young-adult cases in Yonkers and White Plains.
  • A five-story, $156 million HUD-financed young adult center is slated for 2028.
  • Leadership in 2026 added Rose Chapman-Rodriguez and Sarra McGinnis, strengthening care and fundraising.

Grant Support from The Children's Dream Foundation. June 18, 2026 With Grant Support from The Children's Dream Foundation, Elizabeth Seton Children's Center Expands Respiratory Care Program with 15 FluidFlo Processors Elizabeth Seton Children's Center announced that it has received a grant from The Children's Dream Foundation (CDF), an organization dedicated to improving the quality and delivery of medical and health-related services, especially emergency services, to children in the Hudson Valley. The award of $8,500 from The Children's Dream Foundation has been used to purchase 15 FluidFlo 2500 Pneumatic Hand-Held Percussors for Elizabeth Seton Children's Center in Yonkers, a post-acute center that serves 169 children and young adults with complex medical conditions. The devices provide highly effective chest physiotherapy, helping to loosen and mobilize build up in the lungs so it can be cleared more easily. The result is improved breathing, enhanced pulmonary health and greater comfort for children with complex respiratory conditions. "Many of our children face significant respiratory challenges and depend on therapies that help keep their lungs clear and healthy," said Yelena Yadgarova, Director of Respiratory Services. "The FluidFlo Percussor delivers gentle, targeted chest therapy using percussion that is both highly effective and comfortable for our residents. Because the device is lightweight, portable and easy to use, our respiratory therapists, nurses and even family members can provide consistent therapy wherever it's needed. We are deeply grateful to CDF for helping us expand access to this important treatment and further strengthening the respiratory care we provide every day." Among the children benefiting from FluidFlo therapy is Chelsea Lopez, a 20-year-old resident who relies on the treatment to help manage chronic respiratory challenges. Because Chelsea has limited mobility and a tracheostomy, she is unable to clear lung secretions through movement alone. FluidFlo therapy helps move secretions throughout her lungs, making it easier for caregivers to maintain her respiratory health and support faster recovery when illness occurs. The targeted percussion therapy helps open affected areas of her lungs, speeds recovery and reduces discomfort. Chelsea finds the therapy comforting and, in her words, "It's my favorite!" The FluidFlo devices complement other advanced respiratory technologies previously granted by The Children's Dream Foundation, including a Volara System and funding toward the purchase of a VOCSN Multifunction Ventilator, both of which remain in regular use at the children's center. "These new FluidFlo devices will allow more residents to receive timely, effective treatment that supports their breathing and improves their quality of life," Yadgarova said. "We are fortunate to have a longstanding partnership with CDF. Their generosity continues to bring innovative respiratory therapies and equipment to our children." Do you have any questions?
