Emnify

Cloud-based cellular IoT connectivity platform

Overview

Company Does Not Provide H1B Sponsorship

EMnify provides cellular IoT connectivity via a cloud-based platform that lets enterprises manage device data plans across 180+ countries from a single interface. It uses a software-defined mobile network built on a global multi-network SIM, plus a connectivity-management API and web portal, so developers can provision, monitor, and control data usage, network rules, and alerts for connected devices. The platform also offers data-stream integrations with analytics tools and a multi-cloud breakout to route device data directly into customers’ AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure environments for improved security and lower latency. This API-first approach and the ability to abstract traditional telecom infrastructure differentiate EMnify from hardware-heavy rivals. The company’s goal is to simplify and scale IoT deployments for B2B customers, enabling global connectivity managed entirely through software.

emnify launches SGP.32 eSIM with instant provisioning and automated failover across 550+ networks

emnify, a Berlin-based IoT connectivity provider, has introduced the SGP.32 eSIM standard at scale through its IoT SuperNetwork. The technology enables instant-on connectivity through factory-ready bootstrap provisioning, eliminating manual SIM handling and enabling devices to connect immediately upon first power-on. The system provides access to over 550 networks across 195 countries through a single global profile. Businesses can switch operator profiles remotely via portal or API without replacing SIMs or interrupting service, including support for third-party operator profiles. SGP.32 enables automatic fallback profiles embedded within the eSIM, ensuring uninterrupted service if primary profiles fail. Ohme, a smart EV charging provider, is exploring the technology to maintain connectivity control across 15 countries whilst avoiding vendor lock-in. Founded in 2014, emnify supports millions of devices globally across fleet management, aviation and consumer electronics sectors.

Emnify collaborates with other companies in the EU project "ORIGAMI" on the foundations of future 6G networks

Emnify collaborates with other companies in the EU project "ORIGAMI" on the foundations of future 6G networks. The IoT connectivity provider Emnify is participating in the eu-funded ORIGAMI research project together with major telecommunications companies, network technology manufacturers, and research institutions to develop the foundations for future 6G networks. The goal of the project is to create new architectural components for a globally unified 6G network. These include a Global Service-Based Architecture (GSBA), designed to enable worldwide interoperability of services, a Zero-Trust Exposure Layer for secure access to network functions, and a Compute-Continuum Layer that distributes computing resources flexibly between cloud, edge, and network infrastructure. These concepts aim to reduce latency, increase scalability, and make distributed IoT applications more robust. For Emnify, the project is strategically important. The company contributes its experience as a provider of cloud-native IoT connectivity and offers real-world use cases to ensure that emerging 6G concepts reflect practical requirements. At the latest consortium meeting in Würzburg, Emnify presented its own observability platform, enabling latency and availability analysis across global roaming partnerships. Such monitoring tools are considered essential to ensure the reliability of future 6G networks for industrial and safety-critical applications. The consortium also includes companies whose business models partially overlap with Emnify's, directly or indirectly. Telefónica and TIM operate their own IoT connectivity platforms and offer global SIM and eSIM services. Cumucore and IS-Wireless develop modular 5G and 6G core networks for private industrial environments, a technical segment that functionally overlaps with Emnify's cloud-based IoT core network. Despite this, all partners collaborate within ORIGAMI on open architectural approaches designed to make future 6G systems more interoperable and efficient. The project is funded by the European 6G initiative SNS-JU and is considered one of the central research programs intended to build the technical foundations for the European Union's ambition to take a leading role in the upcoming mobile communications standard. Summary (tl;dr). * Emnify works in the EU ORIGAMI project with telecom and network technology companies on 6G fundamentals. * The project develops new architectural components such as GSBA, Zero-Trust Layer, and Compute-Continuum. * Emnify provides real IoT use cases and an observability platform for latency and availability analysis. * The consortium also includes competitors such as Telefónica, TIM, Cumucore, and IS-Wireless. * ORIGAMI aims to strengthen Europe's position in the future 6G standard. * Official ORIGAMI website Dennis knake is a professional editor with many years of experience in IT and telecommunications communications. For more than two decades, he has been writing about IT, IoT, and the digital transformation of industries. Fascinated by technological innovation, he follows new developments with curiosity - and a critical eye.
