Estée Corporation has invested in NEXT NEW WORLD (NNW), a Japanese company specialising in silk protein-based pet food and dietary supplements, as part of its "SMILE 2027" medium-term management plan. Founded in 2021 and based in Kiryu, Gunma Prefecture, NNW is the only company capable of making silk soluble whilst maintaining its structural integrity. NNW has developed pet wellness brands including SILKCATS for feline kidney care and intestinal health, and SILKFUL for dogs. The company collaborates with Yokohama City University, Shinshu University and Kinki University to expand silk applications across healthcare, beauty and related sectors. The partnership aims to develop sustainable pet care products using silk protein technology, replacing petroleum-derived ingredients whilst improving quality of life for pets and their owners.
Estée Lauder has launched Scent Scanner, an AI-powered Pinterest tool offering personalised fragrance recommendations, whilst expanding UK manufacturing to include luxury candle and home fragrance production from Contract Candles. The company also ended merger talks with Puig. The moves combine digital innovation with increased in-house production capacity. Scent Scanner targets higher-intent digital traffic, building on online sales that already represent 31% of revenue. The company is focusing on travel retail recovery and cost control through its restructuring programme. Analysts project revenue of $16.5 billion and earnings of $1.4 billion by 2029, yielding a fair value of $95.12—a 12% upside. However, optimistic scenarios forecast $17.4 billion revenue if AI-driven personalisation significantly improves margins, though rising indie beauty brands pose risks to pricing power.
Estée Lauder Companies is trading at $84.81, potentially 11% undervalued according to analyst estimates that suggest a fair value of $95.12. The stock gained 2.85% in one day and delivered a 14.45% return over the past year, though it has declined 71.06% over five years. The beauty company has a market capitalisation of $30.68 billion and reported revenue of $14.83 billion, growing 3.64% annually. However, it posted a net loss of $248 million. Revenue is primarily driven by skin care at $7.19 billion, followed by makeup, fragrance and hair care. Geographically, Asia/Pacific contributed $4.61 billion and the Americas $4.41 billion to reported revenue. The valuation narrative centres on expected margin recovery, though investors are weighing this against the company's recent profitability challenges.
The Estée Lauder Companies and Jo Malone London have launched Scent Scanner, a Pinterest-exclusive experience that translates users' visual preferences into personalised fragrance recommendations. Rolling out in the US and France, the tool analyses imagery, colour palettes and aesthetics from users' Pinterest boards to suggest Jo Malone London scent pairings. Building on 2025's AI Scent Advisor, which used text descriptions, Scent Scanner shifts the approach to visual inspiration. The experience connects creativity and commerce by reading the visual language people already use to express taste on Pinterest. The launch reflects continued collaboration between the companies to build digital commerce experiences connecting consumers with fragrance through personalised visual discovery. Leaders from both organisations will discuss the innovation at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2026.
