Uluu raises $16M for seaweed plastics

Uluu, a Perth-based sustainable materials startup, raised $16 million in Series A funding to develop a facility for producing seaweed-based plastic alternatives at a commercial scale. The round was led by Burda Principal Investments, with contributions from Main Sequence, Novel Investments, and others. Uluu's process sequesters carbon, potentially reducing global emissions by two gigatonnes annually. The startup aims to produce 10 tonnes of PHA materials annually, expanding its market reach.
