Forge Nano has formed a strategic partnership with Samsung SDI to construct a 3-gigawatt hour battery manufacturing facility in Morrisville, North Carolina, with production expected to begin in 2028. The facility will produce both Samsung SDI and Forge Nano battery cells. Under the agreement, Samsung SDI will provide operational and manufacturing support for the Gigafactory. Samsung SDI has signed a conditional procurement contract to purchase cells from the facility starting in 2028, whilst Forge Nano becomes an authorized distributor of Samsung SDI cells in the US market. Forge Nano is investing between $300 million and $330 million in the project, supported by a $100 million Department of Energy grant.
