Celularity and Fountain Life launch placental cell therapy in Florida under new investigational use law

Celularity and Fountain Life have announced the availability of cenplacel-L, a placental-derived investigational cell therapy, for physician-directed use in Florida under newly enacted state legislation. The framework enables licensed physicians to administer certain unapproved cell therapies outside traditional FDA pathways, potentially serving as a model for broader market expansion. Cenplacel-L is an allogeneic cellular therapy developed by Celularity with demonstrated immunomodulatory and regenerative potential in clinical studies. The company maintains inventory at its FDA-registered, GMP-compliant manufacturing facility and is prepared to support investigational use under Florida law. Florida's legislation, effective July 2025, authorises licensed physicians to perform certain unapproved cell therapies within their scope of practice, subject to strict sourcing, manufacturing, accreditation and patient consent requirements. The therapy has not received FDA approval.
