UOI partners Funding Societies to introduce embedded protection for SME Financing. Singapore, 23 July 2026 - United Overseas Insurance Limited (UOI) has partnered with Funding Societies, Southeast Asia's largest unified SME digital finance platform, to launch AssureProtect, a new embedded insurance proposition designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) strengthen business continuity. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting SMEs with practical financial solutions that address both growth and resilience. As part of the collaboration, AssureProtect will be included in all Funding Societies Business Term Loan Pro at no additional cost to SME borrowers, providing added protection when it matters most. As SMEs continue to invest in expansion while building resources and capabilities, ensuring business continuity remains critical. AssureProtect is designed to protect businesses against unforeseen events that could affect their ability to meet financing obligations. Under the coverage, the outstanding loan amount will be paid in the event of the accidental death or permanent disability of a key person associated with the business. AssureProtect also provides 24/7 worldwide coverage and requires no underwriting or additional application process, making protection simple, accessible and seamless for SME owners. Andrew Lim, Chief Executive Officer of United Overseas Insurance Limited, said: "We understand that SME's face unique challenges as they balance growth ambitions with the realities of building resilient and sustainable businesses. We are delighted to partner with Funding Societies to introduce AssureProtect, ensuring SME owners have access to meaningful protection that safeguards their financing obligations while they focus on growing their businesses with confidence." Kelvin Teo, Co-Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Funding Societies, said: "For many SMEs, the owner is the business. If something happens to them, the debt can outlive the company and fall to the family. AssureProtect is built into Business Term Loan Pro at no additional cost and with no forms to complete, so the protection is there for SMEs on this product. Having financed over 100,000 SMEs across Southeast Asia, we have learned that resilience comes from how financing is structured. UOI is a natural partner for this." The collaboration underscores the importance of integrating protection into the financing journey, enabling SME owners to access not only the capital they need to grow, but also the assurance that their businesses are better protected against unexpected events.
Funding Societies and Boost Bank have launched a secured loan product for Malaysian SMEs, allowing businesses to borrow against industrial or residential properties for working capital, expansion and operations. Under the first phase, Funding Societies will originate financing for eligible SMEs using Boost Bank's balance sheet. The partnership targets firms with assets that still face financing gaps. The product extends Boost Bank's SME lending range beyond its existing unsecured Term Loan and Revolving Credit offerings. The digital bank has focused on underserved micro-SMEs often deemed high risk by traditional banks. The collaboration pairs Funding Societies' borrower sourcing capabilities with Boost Bank's lending capacity, enabling faster entry into secured lending without building distribution independently. The companies say this approach adds pressure on traditional banks operating legacy systems.
GXS Bank, backed by Grab and Singtel, has partnered with digital financing platform Funding Societies to launch the GXS Biz Property-backed Loan, offering Singaporean SMEs up to S$2 million in financing secured against residential or commercial property assets. The facility allows businesses to unlock liquidity from their real estate holdings for expansion, cash flow management, or time-sensitive opportunities. GXS Bank provides its balance sheet and ecosystem reach, whilst Funding Societies contributes its digital SME financing expertise and structured lending capabilities. The loan will initially roll out to existing customers of both firms before expanding to businesses within the Grab and Singtel ecosystem. The partnership addresses a critical financing gap by transforming illiquid property assets into accessible capital for business growth.
GXS Bank and Funding Societies have launched a property-backed loan product for small and medium-sized enterprises in Singapore. The offering will initially target existing customers of both firms and businesses within the Grab and Singtel networks. The loan allows SME owners to borrow against property assets for business purposes, operating under different regulations than personal mortgage equity withdrawal loans. GXS had previously advertised secured working capital of up to S$2 million through its business lending site, with applications shared with FS Capital Pte Ltd. Funding Societies already offers similar property-backed loans up to S$4 million through FS Capital. The partnership expands GXS Bank's product range beyond unsecured credit whilst tapping into ready-made customer pools from parent companies Grab and Singtel.
