Lydian raises $43M Series A led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures for synthetic aviation fuel platform

Lydian has closed a $43 million Series A funding round led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures to scale its synthetic aviation fuel production platform. The round included participation from AP Ventures, Builders Vision, and existing investors including Congruent Ventures, Galvanize, Grok Ventures, Overture, Union Square Ventures, and Voyager Ventures. The Boston-based company will use the funds to launch PIVOT, a modular production platform that reduces plant capital costs by over 50% compared to competing technologies whilst delivering up to 95% lifecycle emissions reductions. The system uses standardised, factory-built modules to cut project development timelines by up to two years. Lydian operates a tonne-scale pilot plant in Boston and is advancing a commercial demonstration facility targeted for 2028, with full-scale commercial deployment expected in 2030.

Highland Electric Fleets secures $75M preferred equity from Galvanize for US electric school bus expansion

Highland Electric Fleets has secured a $75 million preferred equity commitment from Galvanize, bringing total preferred equity commitments to $150 million. The funding will support the deployment of electric school buses and charging infrastructure across the US. Founded in 2019, Highland offers an Electrification-as-a-Service model that provides vehicles, charging infrastructure, software solutions and operational support under long-term contracts. The company serves municipalities, school districts and fleet operators, aligning costs with traditional fuel options whilst creating recurring revenue. The capital will accelerate electric school bus deployment, expand operations in key markets and integrate charging infrastructure with on-site energy resources. Highland's electric school buses have travelled over 10 million miles. The company serves as Official Electric School Bus Provider for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Galvanize closed its Real Estate Fund I in March after reaching $1 billion, with approximately $370 million from investors and the remainder through leverage. The fund's investors include pension funds, foundations, family offices and the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System.
