Gerresheimer selling two pharma packaging units in $1.7-Bn deals. Gerresheimer has agreed to sell two of its packaging units - Centor US Holding, which specializes in packaging systems for dispensing prescription drugs, and its global primary packaging plastics business - to an affiliate of funds advised by Apax Partners, a private equity firm, for EUR 1.5 billion ($1.7 billion). In 2025, the two businesses generated combined revenue of approximately EUR 570 million ($657 million) with a combined number of employees of approximately 2,400. The Centor facility is in Millersburg, Ohio, where the company manufactures packaging systems for prescription drug dispensing, including vials, plastic bottles, and closures. In addition to the Centor site in the US, the transaction includes a total of 15 production sites for primary plastic packaging in nine countries. "This transaction allows us to regain our strategic flexibility," explains Uwe Röhrhoff, CEO of Gerresheimer AG, in a July 29, 2026, statement in announcing the sale. "At the same time, as a leading global partner to the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, we are focusing our business even more strongly on high-value drug delivery and medical devices and primary packaging for injectable drugs." The purchase price for the two business units combined is based on an enterprise value of approximately EUR 1.5 billion ($1.7 billion). The parties have agreed not to disclose further terms of the agreements. The transactions are subject to customary closing conditions and approvals and will be closed independently of one another. The sale of Centor is expected to close by the end of financial year 2026, and the sale of the global primary packaging plastics business is expected to close in the first half of financial year 2027.

Gerresheimer strengthens China footprint with fourth Tubular Glass plant. July 24, 2026 Gerresheimer has officially started operations at its new pharmaceutical glass packaging facility in Zhenjiang Dagang, Jiangsu Province, China, strengthening its production capacity for the country's growing pharmaceutical and biotechnology markets. Built over approximately four years, the new 40,000 m^2 facility is located in the Zhenjiang Economic Development Zone and has been designed to meet the strict regulatory requirements of the pharmaceutical industry. The site also includes an additional 33,000 m^2 of land reserved for future expansion. The plant manufactures borosilicate glass vials and ampoules for injectable medicines, primarily serving the Chinese market. Production is supported by more than 2,700 m^2 of ISO Class 8 cleanroom space, an ISO Class 7 microbiological laboratory, and over 700 m^2 of ISO Class 8 cleanroom area dedicated to silicone coating. The facility also operates under certified quality and environmental management systems. Around 250 employees currently work at the site, with plans to create approximately 50 additional jobs in the coming years. The new facility is Gerresheimer's fourth Tubular Glass plant in China, expanding its long-standing joint venture with Shuangfeng Glass, which has now operated for more than 20 years. Designed with sustainability in mind, the plant follows China's "Green Factory" guidelines and LEED Gold certification requirements. A 2 MWp rooftop photovoltaic system generates renewable electricity for on-site use, while rainwater, condensate and production waste heat are recovered and reused, improving resource efficiency and supporting Gerresheimer's long-term sustainability goals. Mecalux supports Gerresheimer's US medical device logistics expansion. Jun 09, 2026 * Mecalux has supported Gerresheimer in optimising medical device logistics at its Peachtree City facility in Georgia through the deployment of two automated warehouses. * The investment forms part of Gerresheimer's wider US expansion, which includes new cleanrooms, automated production lines and more than 400 new jobs. * The project strengthens logistics precision, safety and real-time inventory control as demand for medical supplies continues to rise. The timely delivery of medical devices to healthcare facilities is of the utmost importance for the health and well-being of patients. Mecalux recently supported Gerresheimer, an innovative systems and solutions provider and a global partner for the pharma, biotech and cosmetic industries, in optimising its medical device logistics operations in the US. As part of the production and logistics capacity expansion of its Peachtree City plant, Gerresheimer commissioned two automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RSs) for pallets from Interlake Mecalux. This dual investment responds to the sharp increase in demand for medical supplies and strengthens the company's automation-driven growth strategy. "Expanding our Peachtree City plant is a key step towards strengthening our presence in the US and being even closer to our customers in the healthcare industry," says Tobias Gebhard, Global Head of Smart Factory Automation for Medical Systems at Gerresheimer. The project has created over 400 new jobs, added state-of-the-art cleanrooms, commissioned highly automated production lines and fully modernised its internal logistics setup. The ambitious expansion plan for the Peachtree City plant has marked a turning point in logistics management. After years of operating with manual processes, Gerresheimer decided to automate its material flows to achieve greater precision, safety and efficiency - critical factors in the medical industry. "In an environment where every component must be handled with the utmost care, automation adds a new level of control and reliability," says Gebhard. Interlake Mecalux's Easy WMS warehouse management system tracks the movement of more than 30 medical device SKUs from the production lines. The software assigns each item a location based on its demand level and sends specific instructions to the stacker cranes for transport. This ensures that all devices are immediately available when needed, while maintaining comprehensive, real-time control over every stored unit. This project, the result of close collaboration between Gerresheimer and Interlake Mecalux, lays the foundation for a more innovative and efficient logistics model ready to support the company's sustained growth in the highly demanding medical industry.
