Integrated marine solutions for offshore projects

Overview

Global Maritime provides integrated marine solutions across oil and gas, renewables, shipping, infrastructure and aquaculture. It covers the full project lifecycle—from early-stage engineering and design to marine operations, marine warranty, advisory, geoscience, software and decommissioning—through multidisciplinary teams that combine engineering depth with practical offshore experience. The company works by delivering coordinated services and technical support that simplify complexity, reduce risk and enable informed decisions, leveraging a global network of offices (15 countries) with strong local knowledge. This makes Global Maritime stand out through its end-to-end integration, long-standing experience since 1979, and its mix of international reach with hands-on offshore expertise. Its goal is to provide clarity, integration and reliability across every stage of a marine project, helping clients operate safely and confidently wherever they work.

Global Maritime to decommission TetraSpar floater offshore Norway.

Global Maritime to decommission TetraSpar floater offshore Norway. March 27, 2026, by Adrijana Buljan The consortium behind the TetraSpar Demonstrator, consisting of TEPCO Renewable Power, RWE, and Stiesdal Offshore, has appointed Global Maritime to support the decommissioning of the demonstration project in Norway. The TetraSpar Demonstrator, which has been in operation at the Marine Energy Test Centre (METCentre) site offshore Karmøy since 2021, consists of Stiesdal Offshore's TetraSub floating foundation carrying a 3.6 MW Siemens Gamesa wind turbine. The decommissioning marks the final phase of the project, following the completion of its demonstration objectives, and will enable detailed inspection of the submerged structure after nearly five years of operation, providing valuable input to the verification of the TetraSub foundation, according to Global Maritime. Under the agreement with the TetraSpar Demonstrator consortium, Global Maritime will be in charge of both offshore and onshore decommissioning, with the scope of work encompassing end-to-end project management, engineering, procurement, and operational execution. The offshore phase of the decommissioning will begin with the disconnection, retrieval, and handling of key subsea components. This includes the inter-array cable (IAC) and the station keeping system (SKS), both of which will be disconnected, recovered, and prepared for transport, with materials directed toward appropriate recycling streams. Following these activities, the complete TetraSpar structure will be towed to a sheltered deepwater location where it will be temporarily moored. Subsequent offshore works will involve keel handling and controlled deballasting operations, before the structure is brought into harbor, where both the keel and floater will be docked. Once onshore, the decommissioning effort will focus on the systematic dismantling and recycling of all major components. The wind turbine will be disassembled, with the nacelle and rotor transported to original equipment manufacturer (OEM)-designated facilities, while the tower sections will be processed for recycling. The keel and floater structures will also undergo dismantling, the removal of marine growth and the segregation of hazardous materials, with all recovered materials from these structures to be sorted and recycled as well. Global Maritime will carry out the onshore scope in partnership with Semco Maritime as a subcontractor at its Hanøytangen yard, providing specialist capabilities in material handling, waste management, and recycling, the TetraSpar Demonstrator decommissioning contractor says. Offshore Wind Industry Saved By Lighter Floating Platforms

Sign up for daily news updates from CleanTechnica on email. Or follow us on Google NewsThe US offshore wind industry has been somewhat at sea of late, the latest development being the cancellation of three offshore leases by New York State. However, a new lifeline is heaving into sight. The US-based firm Ocergy has just welcomed a new investor on board to help accelerate its plans for commercializing a new lightweight floating wind platform, paired with a hyper-local manufacturing model aimed at cutting costs and speeding up assembly.Ocergy Who?CleanTechnica has spilled plenty of ink on floating wind technology, which unlocks new offshore wind sites in waters that are too deep for conventional fixed-platform construction (see lots more floating wind stories here).Ocergy is new to the CleanTechnica radar, so we have some catching up to do. The San Francisco startup launched in 2019 as a bi-national project with a office in France, aiming to bring familiar cost-cutting industrial practices to the emerging field of floating wind. The company’s signature product is OCG-Wind, a floating platform for offshore wind turbines that exhibits three key design principles. One is a low Levelized Cost Of Electricity, which refers to a basis for comparing different kinds of electricity-producing systems. Ocery attributes the low LCOE of its floating platform to its light weight and a focus on minimizing capital expenditures.Another principle involves the ability of offshore wind turbines to generate electricity at or close to 100% of the time. The third design principle relates to the industrial process angle
