Granted Health to pay one Texas teacher's full hospital bill. Posted: Aug 25, 2026 / 12:45 PM CDT Updated: Aug 25, 2026 / 10:50 AM CDT DALLAS (KDAF) - Granted Health announced that it will pay off the full hospital bill for one Texas educator. The application period opens Aug. 25 and runs through Sept. 13. The offer follows a partnership between Granted Health and FFGA to provide North Texas educators with free access to medical bill negotiation services. Texas currently leads the nation in residents carrying medical debt as health care costs rise statewide. Texas teachers and school system employees can register online at grantedhealth.com/texas by completing forms and submitting required documentation. To qualify, applicants must be state residents ages 18 and older living in the county of the treating hospital. The submitted bill must be less than nine months old from the date of service and carry a balance of at least $1,000. Bills currently in collections are eligible. Educators who are not selected for full bill payment will still receive Granted Health's bill advocacy service. The platform assigns patient advocates to review charges for errors, appeal denied claims and screen for income-based discounts. Opening an account and submitting a billing request is free. Granted Health collects a 10% fee strictly on the money saved when it successfully reduces a bill. According to company figures, Granted Health has analyzed more than 100,000 medical bills and served more than 25,000 families. The company reports an average savings rate of 74% when it lowers a medical bill. All facts in this report were gathered by journalists employed by CW33.
