grifin

Mobile app automating micro-investing via purchases

Overview

Grifin is a fintech app that makes investing accessible by automatically turning everyday purchases into stock buys. The core product is a mobile app (iOS and Android) where users link cards; Grifin uses spending data to automatically invest small amounts into the stocks of the brands they shop at, often via fractional shares, and can build a diversified portfolio. It charges a flat monthly subscription for access to automatic investing, fractional shares, diversification, and educational content. What sets Grifin apart is the direct link between daily spending and investing, making the stock market feel more relatable to retail investors—especially millennials and Gen Z—while providing educational resources to help users learn about personal finance. The company’s goal is to simplify investing, removing friction and intimidation so people can invest in brands they use and love as part of their everyday life.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • June 2025 Series A raised $11 million from Nava Ventures and top fintech funds.
  • Grifin crossed 500,000 registered users and 100,000 monthly actives by mid-2025.
  • July 2026 Price.com deal adds free cross-membership and immediate cashback-funded investing.

What critics are saying

  • A June 2025 burst of growth still depends on consumer curiosity, not recurring habit.
  • Competing cashback and investing apps can copy the rewards-to-investment funnel quickly.
  • If deposit-linked partnerships stall, Grifin loses distribution and becomes a niche app.

What makes grifin unique

  • Grifin's Stock Where You Shop links spending directly to personalized stock purchases.
  • Price.com partnership in July 2026 makes cashback fund stock ownership.
  • Sidekick integration in January 2026 extends Grifin into embedded bank accounts.

Price.com and Grifin partner to convert cashback into stock ownership

Price.com and Grifin have partnered to allow shoppers to convert cashback into stock purchases. Price.com Pro members receive Grifin membership at no additional cost, and vice versa. The partnership enables users to invest cashback earned through Price.com purchases into stocks of the companies they shop from, with a minimum investment of $1. Price.com is an AI-powered savings application, whilst Grifin is an investing platform that connects spending to personalised investments. The partnership targets consumers feeling financially squeezed, particularly younger generations experiencing what's termed "financial nihilism". Price.com Pro members receive a 50% increase in cashback rates. Members maintain full control over their investments, including which companies to support and when to pause contributions.
