Sollers Consulting whitepaper: U.S. Workers' Compensation. CHICAGO, IL, August 11, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ - Sollers Consulting, an international business and IT consultancy specializing in the insurance and financial services industries, has released a new white paper, entitled "Orchestrating Workers' Compensation in the AI Era," in partnership with Guidewire and CLARA Analytics. The paper examines how AI-driven claims intelligence and connected technology ecosystems are reshaping operations across the U.S. workers' compensation insurance market, a sector generating approximately $50-60 billion in annual written premium according to NCCI. Increasingly, insurers are using AI-driven analytics, predictive triage, workflow automation, and orchestration frameworks to identify escalation risks earlier, enhance reserving accuracy, streamline documentation-intensive processes, and support more proactive intervention strategies. The paper argues that AI's value is maximized when embedded directly into a framework of coordinated operational workflows rather than deployed as isolated tools or disconnected point solutions. "Workers' compensation is no longer a collection of disjointed claims processes operating on different platforms," said Jeffery Kaczynski, CPCU, Manager and U.S. Workers' Compensation Leader at Sollers Consulting and co-author of the paper. "It has evolved into an ecosystem with a platform like Guidewire ClaimCenter that connects vendors, data sources, and AI-driven capabilities in a logical operational workflow. The insurers seeing the greatest success are those that can implement a framework to orchestrate these moving parts into a more unified, coordinated operational model." The white paper highlights how orchestration frameworks built around platforms like Guidewire ClaimCenter can help insurers connect AI intelligence, claims workflows, medical management, payment systems, fraud detection, and return-to-work coordination for all parties involved in a claim's lifecycle. "Workers' compensation modernization is now more about connecting the full claims ecosystem," said Oliver Winkenbach, General Manager, Data Applications at Guidewire. "AI can help insurers in a multitude of ways, but its real value comes when its insights are embedded directly into the workflows claims professionals utilize every day. That is where orchestration becomes critical, helping insurers connect data, systems, partners, and decision-making processes across the claim lifecycle." The report explores the growing role of generative and agentic AI in workers' compensation, including predictive triage, claims summarization, fraud detection, and next-best-action recommendations. However, it emphasizes that AI should augment human expertise rather than be expected to replace it. "AI-driven claims intelligence can help carriers identify escalation risks earlier, improve reserve accuracy, and support faster intervention," said Mubbin Rabbani, Chief Product Officer at CLARA Analytics. "But those insights create the most value when they are embedded directly into connected claims workflows where adjusters and claims professionals can act on them in real time." The paper includes perspectives from insurance industry executives featured in Sollers' "AI and the Human Impact" CEO interview series, including comments emphasizing the importance of balancing AI-driven efficiency with human judgment, empathy, and operational coordination. The paper concludes that the future of workers' compensation will be shaped less by individual technologies and more by how effectively insurers coordinate workflows, systems, AI-driven insights, and operational decision-making across the claims lifecycle. It argues that, as carriers continue modernizing claims operations, orchestration has emerged as a central competitive advantage, helping insurers reduce fragmentation, improve return-to-work outcomes, enhance operational efficiency, and support more proactive claims management across complex insurance ecosystems. The paper was authored by Jeffery Kaczynski of Sollers Consulting, Oliver Winkenbach of Guidewire, and Mubbin Rabbani of CLARA Analytics. The full report can be downloaded here. Guidewire launches Qusar with AI agents for insurers. Tue, 4th Aug 2026 (Today) Guidewire has launched its Qusar release with a new Agentic Framework for insurers on its cloud platform. The update adds Guidewire-built AI agents for claims and underwriting workflows. The framework lets insurers build, deploy and manage AI agents within Guidewire Cloud Platform. It gives those agents secure, real-time access to policy, claims and billing data, along with business workflows, so multi-step insurance processes can run automatically. Insurers can choose different AI models for different tasks within the framework. Guidewire is positioning the system around core insurance operations rather than general-purpose AI use, focusing on claims handling, underwriting and policy servicing. Industry analysts have argued that insurers want AI tools that fit regulated operational environments rather than sit outside them. Karlyn Carnahan, executive partner at Celent, said the latest release reflects that shift. "Insurers are increasingly recognising that AI value comes from deep integration with core business processes, not from isolated experimentation," Carnahan said. "Agentic Framework addresses this directly by letting insurers deploy AI within their existing systems and workflows while maintaining operational control and compliance." Workflow tools Among the new tools in Qusar are three Guidewire-developed agents for specific insurance tasks. They include Claim Summarisation for ProNavigator, which gives adjusters a summary of claim activity, and Policy Change for ProNavigator, which is intended to help underwriters and customer service staff complete policy changes more quickly. The release also includes Agentic First Notice of Loss, which uses conversational AI voice to guide claimants through the initial reporting of a loss. The tool captures key claim details during that first interaction. The additions show how software suppliers to insurers are trying to move AI beyond pilot projects and into routine operations. Claims departments and underwriting teams have been among the earliest targets because they handle large volumes of structured and semi-structured information that often still requires manual review. Garrett Anderson, chief information officer at Automobile Club of Southern California, said the company was already using AI in these areas. "Guidewire AI innovations are helping us transform how we support our teams and serve our members," Anderson said. "By using AI to summarise claims and streamline key insurance workflows, we're improving efficiency, helping our adjusters focus on higher-value work, and creating a stronger foundation for future innovation." Developer focus Qusar also introduces Developer and Builder Assistants trained on the Guidewire environment. These tools understand its code base, programming languages, design patterns and configurations. For developers, the assistants are intended to support work across Gosu, the Java-compatible language used in Guidewire systems, as well as integrations, Jutro and serverless functions. In product and data work, Guidewire has also added a Data Curation Assistant for Data Studio that converts plain language into SQL, and a Product Design Assistant for Advanced Product Designer to help automate insurance product configuration. Guidewire's internal productivity benchmarks showed developers could deliver solutions more than 40% faster with its own assistants than with generic coding assistants. According to the company, the comparison was based on standard configuration tasks. Diego Devalle, chief product development officer at Guidewire, said the company had embedded the new framework into its existing cloud platform rather than offering it as a separate layer. "By building the Agentic Framework directly into Guidewire Cloud Platform, we are giving developers and AI builders the tools to engineer and safely deploy insurance-aware AI agents into their daily operations," Devalle said. "Additionally, Developer Assistants help teams deliver solutions more than 40% faster than generic coding assistants*** by combining AI capabilities with the deep contextual knowledge embodied in our platform. Our customers and partners are already seeing the tangible benefits, using these tools to quickly build and deploy AI agents that support both developers and business users." Insurance context Guidewire serves the property and casualty insurance market, where core administration platforms sit at the centre of underwriting, claims and billing operations. Suppliers in that sector have been under pressure to show how AI can be deployed in ways that preserve auditability, control and compliance while reducing employees' workload. The Qusar release suggests Guidewire is trying to tie AI more closely to the systems insurers already use to run day-to-day operations. Several of the newly announced features are being offered on limited-availability terms, indicating a phased rollout across customers and regions. More than 570 insurers in 43 countries use Guidewire products.
