HIVE

Retrofits heavy equipment for autonomous operation

Overview

Hive Autonomy retrofits heavy equipment with the Hive Machine Intelligence Equipment to enable autonomous operation or remote control. The Hive Operation Station is a centralized hub where one operator can supervise multiple machines from an office or remote location. The system is brand-agnostic and can connect to machinery from many manufacturers, with 5G connectivity supported by its partners. Its goal is to deploy autonomous and remotely controlled machinery at scale to improve efficiency and safety in Nordic logistics, road maintenance, and industrial work.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Hive closed a $15 million pre-Series A on July 7, 2026.
  • The round funds technical hiring and US market expansion from Kristiansand and London.
  • Recent deployments with Yara and Presis Vegdrift prove customers pay for remote autonomy.

What critics are saying

  • SuperSeed's $15 million, July 2026 runway looks short for hardware-heavy commercialization.
  • Toyota, Volvo, and OEM automation stacks can disintermediate Hive before US expansion.
  • Field failures in quarry, road, or forklift autonomy create liability, recalls, and existential shutdown risk.

What makes HIVE unique

  • Hive retrofits existing machines, avoiding costly fleet replacement for customers.
  • Its centralized Operation Station lets one operator supervise multiple heavy machines.
  • Partnerships with Yara, Toyota Material Handling, and Statens Vegvesen validate heterogeneous deployments.
