Handoff has launched H1, an AI system that autonomously generates material takeoffs from construction blueprints. The model scored 81.6% on the Construction Blueprint Takeoff Benchmark, outperforming eight major AI models that averaged around 55%. H1 completes takeoffs in approximately two hours, compared to eight to 20 hours for experienced human estimators. The system uses specialised agents trained to interpret construction drawings across different trades. The tool is now available to Handoff's Scale Plan subscribers and API customers. Austin-based Handoff AI serves tens of thousands of contractors across the United States and ranks first in estimating software on G2. CEO Dmitry Alexin said the system addresses a critical industry challenge where miscalculations can cause significant cost overruns on residential projects.

Nemetschek has strategically invested in Handoff, a US-based AI platform for contractors. Handoff automates tasks like estimating, proposals, client management, and invoicing using real-time pricing data. This partnership aims to enhance digital efficiency in residential construction. Dmitry Alexin, Handoff's CEO, sees this as a validation of their vision to improve construction processes, while Nemetschek's Tanja Kufner highlights the potential to support growth in an underserved segment.
