What believers are saying

  • Jim Fanning joined June 1, 2026, bringing AWS and Databricks operating experience.
  • Hatz AI claimed 1,000-plus MSP partners and 150% net revenue retention in June 2026.
  • Activate monetizes shadow AI scans and quarterly governance, creating recurring revenue beyond one-off deployments.

What critics are saying

  • Microsoft and OpenAI bundle Copilot directly into SMB workflows, compressing Hatz AI demand by 2027.
  • A January 2026 AI phone-agent incident exposed upstream dependency risk and service reliability fragility.
  • If MSPs standardize on native vendor tools, Hatz AI loses channel leverage and becomes optional.

What makes Hatz AI unique

  • Hatz AI sells MSPs a multi-tenant AI operating layer, not a single chatbot.
  • Activate, launched August 4, 2026, centralizes PSA sync, readiness scoring, and Shadow AI detection.

Hatz AI Launches Activate to Scale AI for MSPs.

Hatz AI Launches Activate to Scale AI for MSPs. Hatz AI has introduced Hatz Activate, a centralized rollout command center that enables managed service providers (MSPs) to deploy AI capabilities across their SMB customers from a single platform. The solution provides end-to-end visibility, automated client onboarding, and built-in guidance, helping MSPs deliver AI safely and efficiently while accelerating adoption for the businesses they support. The launch addresses a critical gap in SMB AI adoption. Small businesses know AI can help them work smarter, but most don't know where to start, and many are already using consumer AI tools in ways that put company data at risk. Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence MSPs are the trusted advisors best positioned to close that gap, but until now there has been no scalable, repeatable way to guide every client through adoption. Client data is scattered across PSA systems, spreadsheets, and one-off invite links, forcing MSPs to onboard accounts manually, one at a time, while clients wait on the value AI could already be delivering. Hatz Activate eliminates all of that. Built directly into the Hatz Admin panel, partners simply connect their PSA system or upload a customer CSV, and Hatz automatically enriches every account by domain and industry. It then generates tailored, industry-specific use cases for each client, so every business starts with AI applied to the work it actually does, not a blank page. From there, MSPs can see real-time tenant match status across their entire customer base, run Shadow AI reports to flag risky AI usage before it becomes a problem, send AI Readiness Assessments to help clients understand where AI fits their business, and dispatch tailored invites in only a few clicks. Every activation is tracked on a live dashboard, turning AI adoption from a one-off effort into a repeatable motion that reaches every client, not just the early adopters. With Hatz Activate, Hatz is deepening its commitment to helping MSPs lead SMB AI adoption with practical tools that make every client safer and more productive. "Everything we build at Hatz starts with our partners. MSPs are the most trusted technology advisors small businesses have, and they've been asking for a real way to bring AI to their entire client base, not one account at a time," said Hatz CEO, Jimmy Hatzell. "Hatz Activate is our answer. It gives MSPs a repeatable way to get every client up and running with AI that is practical and safe, which is exactly what our mission demands: helping the MSPs who make SMB technology work deliver more value to the businesses that count on them." Data Management Key capabilities of Hatz Activate include: * Unified customer view with PSA sync and CSV import in one operating table * Tenant match status visible on every row before a single invite is sent * Shadow AI detection to surface risky consumer AI adoption across client organizations * AI Readiness Assessment to qualify and warm prospects at scale * Bulk invite actions - select a cohort, send invites, done * Full invite lifecycle tracking: Not Sent, Sent, and Activated via Invite with attribution * Saved views and filters for a repeatable monthly go-to-market motion * Real-time KPI dashboard: Total Customers, Ready to Invite, Invites Sent, Activated, Conversion Rate Unlike ad-hoc spreadsheets, disconnected CRM exports, or manual email chains, Hatz Activate is the only workflow of its kind built directly into an MSP's admin environment. There's no jumping between tools and no extra systems to manage, just one screen and one repeatable motion that gets every client started with safe, practical AI in as few as five clicks.

MSPs get a way to turn AI governance into recurring revenue.

MSPs get a way to turn AI governance into recurring revenue. August 4, 2026 Hatz AI has launched Hatz Activate, a new command center designed to help MSPs roll out AI services across their small and midsize business customers. Built into the Hatz Admin panel, the tool brings client assessment, outreach, onboarding, and adoption tracking into one place. MSPs can connect Hatz Activate to their professional services automation platform or upload a customer CSV file. The platform enriches each account by domain and industry, runs AI readiness assessments, and surfaces shadow AI activity across the customer base. Partners can then group accounts, send invitations in bulk, and track which clients have received or activated the service. Jimmy Hatzell, CEO and co-founder of Hatz AI, told ChannelE2E, "This is the whole point of Activate. Import your book of business from your PSA or a CSV. Activate enriches every company, runs an AI-readiness assessment, and surfaces Shadow AI risk across your entire client base, in minutes." Connecting Activate to existing MSP tools. The platform supports HaloPSA, ConnectWise Manage, and Datto Autotask at launch. Hatzell said the PSA connection is read-only and limited to five fields: company name, domain, primary contact name and email, and record ID. The company does not write data back to the PSA, and credentials are encrypted at rest. "For PSA, HaloPSA, ConnectWise Manage, and Datto Autotask are live today. More coming," Hatzell said. "And the sync is read-only. Five fields. Company name, domain, primary contact name and email, record ID. We never write to your PSA. Credentials encrypted at rest." RMM deployment follows a different model. Hatz Activate generates a one-time ingest link for the Shadow AI Scan, which MSPs can deploy through their existing RMM platform or a Group Policy task. According to Hatzell, that approach works with tools such as NinjaOne, ConnectWise, and Datto without placing a Hatz API key on the customer's device. "RMM works differently, on purpose. The Shadow AI Scan generates a one-time ingest link you deploy through whatever RMM you already run. Ninja, ConnectWise, Datto, or a GPO task. No Hatz API key ever touches a customer machine," he said. The scan checks browser history, installed applications, integrated development environment extensions, and npm packages against a known list of AI tools. MSPs can use that data to identify unsanctioned AI use, assess risk, and open a broader conversation about governance. Turning AI governance into recurring revenue. Hatz AI is positioning Activate as a way for MSPs to turn AI readiness, governance, and ongoing oversight into managed services. Hatzell said partners could run shadow AI scans and readiness assessments on a recurring schedule, then use the results to support quarterly reviews and ongoing billing. "Here's the recurring part. Shadow AI scans are point-in-time snapshots. Readiness changes. That means AI governance is not a project. It's a service. Rescan quarterly. Reassess. Report. Bill for it," Hatzell said. "Same playbook works for use case delivery on the platform. Hatz does the heavy lifting. Partners package and price it." Hatz does not prescribe a fixed resale price. Activate includes a revenue calculator that estimates monthly recurring revenue and margin based on the number of customers and the package price set by the MSP. Partners can start customers on an entry-level package, then move them into broader services as adoption grows. "On pricing, we don't hand you a rate card. You own the margin. Activate has a built-in revenue calculator that shows MRR and margin based on your customer count and your package pricing. You set the price. We give you the platform. When a prospect converts, spin up a tenant and upgrade the package as they grow," Hatzell said. Measuring adoption and risk over time. Before activation, the Shadow AI Scan gives MSPs device-level data, including risk tiers, devices scanned, AI tools found, affected users, and risk by tool. After activation, the Hatz Admin Dashboard tracks credit usage, user activity, and adoption by tenant. "We look at visibility in two layers. Before the sale: the Shadow AI Scan gives you device-level proof. Risk tier, devices scanned, distinct AI tools found, users affected, per-tool risk breakdown," Hatzell said. "Then after activation, the Admin Dashboard gives you credit usage, user activity, and a per-tenant Adoption tab." That gives MSPs a way to show progress over time during quarterly business reviews. They can compare an initial shadow AI baseline with later scans, track readiness scores and measure whether customers are shifting toward approved AI tools. "Put them together and you have a QBR story that writes itself. Baseline shadow AI exposure, then the rescan shows it dropping. Readiness scores are improving. Sanctioned adoption climbing. Measurable value, every quarter," Hatzell said. An in-depth guide to AI. Get essential knowledge and practical strategies to use AI to better your security program. Hatz AI names Jim Fanning president to accelerate msp-focused growth.

Hatz AI names Jim Fanning president to accelerate msp-focused growth. June 4, 2026 Jim Fanning Hatz AI, a platform designed to help managed service providers deliver AI-as-a-service to small and midsize businesses, has appointed veteran technology executive Jim Fanning as president as the company looks to scale its operations, expand its partner ecosystem, and capitalize on growing demand for practical AI adoption among SMBs. Fanning assumed the role on June 1, 2026, and will oversee day-to-day operations, growth initiatives, and strategic execution alongside CEO and co-founder Jimmy Hatzell. The appointment comes as Hatz AI enters a new phase of expansion following rapid growth across its managed service provider network and increasing adoption of AI technologies by smaller organizations seeking enterprise-grade capabilities without significant internal resources. The leadership addition reflects a broader shift occurring across the technology services landscape, where MSPs are becoming a key channel for AI deployment. As businesses move beyond experimentation and seek operational AI tools that can be implemented securely and managed effectively, service providers are increasingly positioned as trusted advisors helping organizations navigate adoption, governance, and integration challenges. Fanning brings more than three decades of experience leading enterprise technology businesses. His background includes senior leadership roles at Oracle, Amazon Web Services, and Databricks, with particular expertise in scaling high-growth technology organizations. During more than 13 years at AWS, he helped support the company's expansion from less than $1 billion in revenue to more than $100 billion and played a role in growing the cloud provider's international presence, including the establishment of operations in Switzerland and Austria. His experience building go-to-market organizations and expanding global technology businesses is expected to support Hatz AI as it seeks to broaden its reach among MSPs and the SMB clients they serve. "I'm thrilled to join the Hatz AI team and help push forward its mission to make AI truly accessible for SMBs and MSPs," Fanning said. "I'm eager to support the company's growth and work with Jimmy and the team to reach that next level: more partners, better tools, and stronger solutions for the people we serve." Since launching in January 2024, Hatz AI has built a network of more than 1,000 managed service provider partners, creating a distribution model that enables the company to reach businesses globally through existing technology service relationships. The company reported a net revenue retention rate of 150% and has continued to expand its platform through a series of product releases designed to simplify AI adoption and management. The company has also invested heavily in its workforce to support growth. Hatz AI has more than doubled its engineering team while expanding its go-to-market organization with the addition of industry executives Dan Vaz and Cat Garrett. It also strengthened its leadership bench with the appointment of Eric Russo as Head of Security, bringing additional expertise in cybersecurity and managed services from previous roles at organizations including SKOUT and Barracuda Networks. These investments reflect increasing demand for AI platforms that prioritize security, governance, and ease of deployment. As organizations seek ways to integrate artificial intelligence into everyday workflows, many are looking for solutions that provide visibility into data usage, costs, and outcomes while minimizing complexity and risk. "Our MSP partners and their customers have helped us build real momentum over the past couple years, and we're deeply grateful for that trust," Hatzell said. "What gets a company to one stage of growth is not always what gets it to the next, which is why bringing in leaders like Jim matters at this pivotal time. As AI moves from promise to practical adoption, experienced leadership like Jim's becomes a real advantage." Hatz AI positions itself as a managed AI platform that enables businesses to access multiple AI models through a single environment while maintaining oversight of security, spending, and performance. By leveraging MSP relationships, the company aims to lower barriers to AI adoption for smaller organizations that may lack dedicated internal AI teams. As the AI market continues to mature, competition is increasingly shifting from model development to implementation, governance, and business outcomes. Hatz AI's leadership expansion signals its intent to strengthen its position within that emerging ecosystem, where managed service providers are expected to play a growing role in bringing AI capabilities to the broader SMB market.
