Henry Schein beats Q2 estimates with $3.46B revenue, raises full-year guidance on dental growth

Henry Schein reported second-quarter results that exceeded Wall Street expectations, with revenue of $3.46 billion versus analyst estimates of $3.37 billion and adjusted EPS of $1.27 versus $1.24 expected. The company attributed the performance to accelerating internal sales growth and robust gains in its global dental merchandise segment. CEO Frederick Lowery highlighted success in converting occasional buyers into regular customers and strong market share gains in the US and Canada. The company slightly raised its full-year adjusted EPS guidance to $5.34 at the midpoint. During the earnings call, analysts questioned the sustainability of US dental consumables growth and the timing of value creation benefits. CFO Ronald South indicated most operating income improvements from these initiatives would materialise in the second half of the year.

Henry Schein beats Q1 estimates with $3.37B revenue as dental market share gains offset light flu season

Henry Schein reported first-quarter revenue of $3.37 billion, beating analyst estimates of $3.34 billion, with adjusted earnings per share of $1.32 surpassing expectations of $1.22. The healthcare distributor's performance was driven by strong gains in US dental and global technology segments. CEO Frederick Lowery attributed growth to market share gains and stable dental procedure volumes, supported by merchandise price increases and investments from dental service organisations. The medical business faced headwinds from a lighter flu season affecting point-of-care diagnostics. Analysts questioned gross margin sustainability amid rising oil prices and earnings growth prospects without restructuring. Management highlighted dynamic pricing and proprietary brand growth as margin protection strategies. The company reiterated full-year adjusted EPS guidance of $5.30 at the midpoint, with market capitalisation reaching $7.86 billion.
