HeyTutor

HeyTutor

Online marketplace linking students with tutors

Overview

HeyTutor is an online tutoring platform that connects students with tutors for personalized learning. It operates as a two-sided marketplace where individuals can find, hire, schedule, and pay for tutoring across K-12, test prep, and professional development, with options for online or in-person sessions, while also providing tools to track progress. The company differentiates itself by combining consumer tutoring with district-level partnerships, enabling tutoring services for individuals as well as school systems, and by offering built-in matching, an interactive learning environment, and progress monitoring. Its goal is to bridge educational gaps by delivering high-quality, individualized instruction at scale, reaching students of all ages through both direct-to-consumer and B2B partnerships.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • North Wasco approved HeyTutor in February 2026 for state-funded literacy tutoring and local hires.
  • Grossmont Union approved a June 2026 HeyTutor math pilot worth up to $750,000.
  • HeyTutor's 2025-2026 website and contracts show sustained district demand across multiple states.

What critics are saying

  • District contracts renew on results; Grossmont's June 2026 pilot has four renewal gates.
  • HeyTutor depends on public funding cycles like Michigan's MI Kids Back on Track and Idaho literacy dollars.
  • If districts shift to internal tutoring or larger vendors like Varsity Tutors, HeyTutor loses deployments quickly.

What makes HeyTutor unique

  • HeyTutor sells in-person, high-dosage tutoring with district contracts and curriculum alignment, not marketplace leads.
  • Its District Terms package services through MSAs, SOWs, dashboards, and parental-consent workflows.
  • HeyTutor emphasizes science-of-reading and math interventions, winning program-fit over generic tutoring marketplaces.
