Forbes names Higher Heights president and CEO Glynda Carr to 2026 50 Over 50 list. Higher Heights for America National recognition celebrates Carr's leadership in building Black women's political power and transforming representation at every level of government BROOKLYN (Aug. 12, 2026) - Today, Forbes named Glynda C. Carr, co-founder, president and CEO of Higher Heights for America, to its 2026 50 Over 50 list, recognizing women across the country who are doing influential and powerful work after the age of 50. Now in its sixth year, the Forbes 50 Over 50 recognizes 200 women across four categories: impact, innovation, investment and lifestyle. Produced in partnership with Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski and her Know Your Value initiative, the 2026 list was selected following thousands of nominations and extensive research, reporting, fact-checking and vetting process. Carr, 54, was recognized for her trailblazing work building the political power and leadership of Black women through Higher Heights, the national organization she co-founded to elect Black women to public office and harness Black women's collective voting power. "This recognition is deeply personal, but it belongs to a movement much bigger than me," said Glynda C. Carr, co-founder, president and CEO of Higher Heights for America. "For more than fourteen years Higher Heights has worked from a simple but powerful belief: when Black women have the resources, infrastructure and support to lead, our communities and our democracy are stronger. I am proud of what we have built, but I am even more excited about what comes next. In its profile of Carr, Forbes highlighted Higher Heights' work to help elect Black women to Congress and the U.S. Senate, including Higher Heights PAC's support of U.S. Senators Angela Alsobrooks of Maryland and Lisa Blunt Rochester of Delaware during the historic 2024 election cycle. Forbes also pointed to Higher Heights' role in increasing Black women's representation in statewide executive offices, including the election of New York Attorney General Letitia "Tish" James. Since co-founding Higher Heights, Carr has helped build a national political organization and movement dedicated to expanding Black women's representation, leadership and political power. Under her leadership, Higher Heights has worked to recruit and support Black women candidates, mobilize Black women voters and build the political infrastructure necessary to ensure Black women have a voice at every level of government. "Glynda has spent her career seeing possibilities for Black women's leadership before others could imagine them and then building the infrastructure to make those possibilities real," said DeNora Getachew, Board Chair of Higher Heights for America.
