Unified security platform: perimeter to identity

Overview

Hirsch provides unified security solutions for enterprises and SMBs, integrating perimeter security, intrusion detection, access control, video intelligence, and identity authentication into one system. The platform centralizes these domains from edge devices to core data centers, delivering real-time visibility, control, and a single source of truth across the security setup. It differentiates itself with over 45 years of enterprise- and government-grade expertise in one platform, simplifying security operations compared with multi-vendor approaches. The goal is to help organizations manage security more easily, maintain real-time oversight, and stay compliant in a connected, high-risk environment.

  • Hirsch UK hired Tom Bayley and Richard Berry in March 2026 to win tenders.

What critics are saying

  • Microsoft Entra passkeys commoditize Hirsch's authentication stack, trapping revenue in legacy hardware.
  • SecureSIM depends on Unibeam; partner drift or stalled carrier adoption kills rollout speed.
  • Hirsch's 2026 integration of Protech, TDSi, and rebranded subsidiaries risks execution slippage.

What makes Hirsch unique

  • Hirsch's January 2026 unified brand combines U.S. federal-trusted Hirsch, Protech perimeter, TDSi access control.
  • SecureSIM binds identity to SIM hardware, adding phishing resistance without apps or tokens.
  • Darren Learmonth will coordinate 180 engineers across Hirsch's global R&D from May 2026.

Hirsch and Unibeam make the SIM the anchor for enterprise authentication.

Hirsch and Unibeam make the SIM the anchor for enterprise authentication. Hirsch and Unibeam have introduced SecureSIM, an enterprise authentication method that turns the secure element already inside a phone's SIM into the root of a user's identity, doing away with separate apps, one-time codes, and physical tokens. Built on Unibeam's technology and added to Hirsch's identity portfolio, the offering uses the SIM, eSIM, and iSIM as a hardware anchor for phishing-resistant access from the device a worker already carries. The approach binds a cryptographic credential to a tamper-resistant component of the handset rather than to anything that travels over a network. Because the credential lives in the SIM's secure element, authentication is tied to hardware that cannot be copied as easily as a password or relayed like an SMS code, and the binding can be provisioned to the device remotely. For the user, the result is meant to feel like nothing more than using their own phone, while the organization gets an identity rooted in protected silicon. Phishing resistance is the central claim, and it follows from where the credential sits. A secret bound to the SIM and the device is not something a fake login page can capture, a fraudster can talk a user into reading aloud, or an attacker can lift through a SIM-swap takeover, the failure modes that make codes and shared passwords weak. SecureSIM is positioned to close those gaps while keeping the rollout light, since it rides on hardware the workforce already owns. "SecureSIM powered by Unibeam gives our customers another powerful tool to counter today's threats through hardware-backed security, without adding friction or operational burden," said Louis Modell, Global General Manager and Vice President of Identity Readers, Americas at Hirsch. Ran Ben-David, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Unibeam, said the collaboration lets organizations adopt strong, hardware-rooted verification in a way that is simple, scalable, and ready for today's threat landscape. The companies note that compromised or stolen identities now feature in more than 80 percent of breaches. SecureSIM joins a market already crowded with phishing-resistant options anchored to hardware. HID has launched FIDO-certified hardware and an enterprise passkey management platform, and the broader push to make the mobile network itself an identity layer is visible in services such as the OTP-free verification Telin and IPification built across more than 40 networks. SecureSIM also speaks directly to the SIM-swap problem that operators have been tackling with measures like AT&T and Nokia's network-data sharing, by moving the credential into the SIM's protected hardware. SecureSIM is being positioned for enterprise identity security, with Hirsch and Unibeam demonstrating it at the Identiverse conference. By the Mobile ID World Editorial Team

Hirsch launches SecureSIM to fight phishing with SIM-based authentication

Unibeam, a pioneer in SIM-based authentication, has launched SecureSIM™, a Hirsch authentication solution that uses device and SIM-bound identity to protect against phishing and identity threats. The solution joins Hirsch's existing multi-factor authentication offerings, SecureKey™ and SecurePass™. SecureSIM™ delivers enterprise-grade authentication using secure hardware within SIM cards, operating independently of regional limitations or carrier dependencies. The solution eliminates physical token requirements, reducing operational costs whilst providing cryptographic binding between the secure element and user device. With over 80% of breaches involving compromised identities, hardware-based authentication has become critical defence against increasingly sophisticated AI-powered attacks. SecureSIM™ offers remote provisioning, simple deployment and integration with employees' phones, minimising adoption friction whilst maintaining strong security. Hirsch demonstrated SecureSIM™ at Identiverse 2026 in Las Vegas this week.
