Hourly

Hourly

Payroll, time tracking, and workers' comp.

Overview

Hourly provides a cloud-based platform for payroll, time and attendance tracking, and workers’ compensation insurance for small and medium-sized businesses with hourly employees. It syncs GPS-based time tracking with payroll so workers’ comp premiums are calculated in real time from actual payroll data, avoiding year-end estimates. The mobile-first platform offers automated payroll tax filings, same-day direct deposit, and a subscription model with per-employee pricing. It differentiates itself with pay-as-you-go workers’ comp and a focus on industries with variable-hour workloads, helping SMBs manage costs and administration as they scale across the United States, including a merger with WeSure US.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Hourly’s website says 500+ businesses use it, with demand concentrated in construction.
  • Nationwide’s 3,000-producer channel gives Hourly immediate distribution into hourly-worker industries.
  • Hourly’s August 2026 pricing and product pages show active commercialization, not dormant technology.

What critics are saying

  • July 2025 WeSure US merger makes Hourly dependent on integration, governance, and financing execution.
  • ADP, Gusto, and Paychex bundle payroll better and squeeze Hourly’s standalone value proposition.
  • If claims data, underwriting, or capital deteriorate, WeSure can absorb Hourly into a loss-making platform.

What makes Hourly unique

  • Hourly’s real-time payroll-claims integration keeps workers’ comp pricing tied to actual wages.
  • Nationwide’s July 2023 partnership made Hourly an MGU for skilled-trades underwriting.
  • Hourly’s 2026 platform covers payroll, taxes, time tracking, and insurance across 50 states.
