Wichita Falls City Council approves nomination for $70M Howmet expansion.

Wichita Falls City Council approves nomination for $70M Howmet expansion. Posted: Nov 3, 2026 / 03:17 PM CST Updated: Nov 3, 2026 / 03:17 PM CST WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) - A proposed $70 million expansion of Howmet Aerospace's Wichita Falls operations could bring hundreds of additional jobs to the community. During its Tuesday, November 3 meeting, the Wichita Falls City Council approved a resolution nominating Howmet Castings and Services, Inc., for designation under the Texas Enterprise Zone Program. If approved by the state, the designation could make the company eligible for additional economic development incentives. The proposed expansion includes approximately 100,000 square feet of new manufacturing space immediately west of Howmet's existing facility near Bacon Switch Road and Interstate 44. According to information presented to council Tuesday, the project could create approximately 200 additional full-time jobs, bringing Howmet's local workforce to around 1,100 employees. Howmet has operated in Wichita Falls for nearly five decades, manufacturing components used in the aerospace and transportation industries. In September, city council approved an economic development incentive package totaling up to $5.275 million to assist with the company's planned facility and workforce expansion. Tuesday's action concerns a separate state incentive program that lets qualifying businesses receive sales and use tax refunds based on capital investment and job creation. The council's approval lets Howmet pursue the state designation but does not guarantee the company will receive the incentives. Applications for the program are due December 1. Wichita Falls City Council to consider deal with RV park developers.

Wichita Falls City Council to consider deal with RV park developers. Lynn Walker, Wichita Falls Times Record News Mon, November 2, 2026 at 2:45 AM PST The Wichita Falls City Council on Tuesday will consider entering into an agreement with some developers for improvements to the city's sewer system to allow for the development of Falls Ranch RV Resort near Jacksboro Highway and Rathgeber Road. The meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 1300 Seventh Street. It is open to the public and will be livestreamed on the city's website. The agreement would have the developers pay $150,000, and the city would pay Biggs & Matthews $198,000 for engineering services to allow for development of the RV park "and other future development in the area," according to the city's meeting agenda. One of the development partners, Brad K. Rodgers, said work on the $3.5 million project should be completed in six to eight months. The park would have 176 RV spots, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Rodgers said the park could accommodate an expected influx of temporary workers for data center projects as well as longer-term permanent residents. He said the city has already approved rezoning and granted a conditional use permit for the park. Councilors will also consider buying 33 new security cameras from Syntrio Solutions, LLC of Vernon for Wichita Falls Regional Airport. The cost with three years of licensing would be $165, 520. The staff comments on the agenda item said current cameras at the airport "are at the end of life and are no longer fully operational." The City Council will also consider nominating the Howmet plant for the Texas Enterprise Zone Program. According to the agenda, being including in the program would qualify the company for rebates on state sales and use taxes based on the company's capital investment and job creation. The Howmet plant in Wichita Falls, which makes aerospace and turbine components, plans to build a new $70 million plant and add 200 new jobs. Councilors also will considering actions to retrieve severance pay from former city manager Jeffery Jenkins. Howmet adds capacity as gas-turbine demand skyrockets.

Howmet adds capacity as gas-turbine demand skyrockets. Industrial Info Resources is tracking progress at 49 operational facilities worldwide owned by Howmet, including 37 in the U.S. Released Monday, November 02, 2026 Reports related to this article: Summary. Howmet expects the global market for industrial gas-turbine components will continue to strengthen well into the 2030s, with its long-term contracts with high-profile customers supporting its planned capacity expansions. No end in sight for gas turbine demand. Howmet Aerospace Incorporated is riding the constantly cresting wave of demand for industrial gas turbines. The company, which manufactures components critical to gas-turbine operations, expects its order backlog will grow exponentially in coming years as its competitors face sold-out inventories. Industrial Info Resources is tracking progress at 49 operational facilities worldwide owned by Howmet, including 37 in the U.S. John Plant, the chief executive officer of Howmet, said in a quarterly earnings-related conference call Thursday that third-quarter revenues in the company's gas-turbine business grew 45% when compared with the same period last year. He also pointed to a strong long-term outlook "beyond 2028," citing customers who are facing sold-out capacities from turbine providers. "More recently, we have seen major gas-turbine customers state that 2031 is now also sold out, and indeed 2032 will likely be sold out in the next one or two quarters," Plant said in the earnings call. "This growing level of demand continues into the 2030s, and combined with the need for significant increases in future gas-turbine spares, provides Industrial Info Resources, Inc. with even greater confidence. Accordingly, Howmet is preparing to expand production capacity at its superalloy foundry in Wichita Falls, Texas, where the company produces high-performance metal components for gas turbines, such as blades, airfoils and vanes. In September, the Wichita Falls City Council approved a $5.275 million economic development package to support the expansion, which could begin construction as early as February. Industrial Info Resources offers more information on this project in its Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Metals & Minerals Plant and Project databases, where readers can find details-including construction schedules, investment values and necessary equipment -in a plant profile and project report. Executives said Howmet's long-term agreements with major industrial gas-turbine manufacturers positions put the company in a favorable position to address rising demand. Plant noted Howmet counts General Electric Company, Safran S.A., Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce among its customers. According to Industrial Info Resources data, Howmet's active and proposed projects total more than $325 million worldwide. Subscribers can consult a full list of project reports. Howmet also produces fastening systems and structural components for the aerospace industry. By the Numbers * 45%: Howmet's year-over-year revenue growth in the third quarter for its gas-turbine business * 49: operational facilities worldwide owned by Howmet, including 37 in the U.S. * More than $325 million: Total value of Howmet's active and proposed projects worldwide Sky's the Limit in Aerospace. Companywide, Howmet's revenues grew 33% from the third quarter of 2025 to $1.45 billion, which executives attributed partly to the company's acquisition of Brunner Fastener, completed in February. Brunner specializes in the production of bolts, pins, wires and other steel-based fastener materials. Notably, Howmet notched 32% growth in the commercial aerospace market and 10% growth in the defense aerospace market. In April, the company completed an expansion of a casting plant for jet-engine components in Whitehall, Michigan, which will allow the facility to produce ceramic cores used in jet engines and gas turbines. Subscribers can learn more from a plant profile and project report. Howmet also is at work on an expansion of its ceramic cores plant in Morristown, Tennessee, which kicked off in the second quarter of 2025. In addition to the new production lines, the company aims to improve its output of fuel-efficient aerospace engines, which one executive said would enable "the next generation of quieter, cleaner, more efficient engines and power generation." Subscribers can learn more from a plant profile and project report. "The way things are shaping, I sense that we're going to have a very continuing high level of capital expenditure into 2028," Plant said in the earnings call. The company did not provide a specific dollar value, but executives expect Howmet's 2027 capital expenditures will exceed those for full-year 2026, which are projected to come in at more than $500 million. The Industrial Info Resources GMI Project and Plant databases offer a full list of detailed reports for projects mentioned in this article, and a full list of related plant profiles. Industrial Info Resources also offers a full list of profiles for operational facilities worldwide owned by Howmet.
