Humanscale expands ergoIQ to simplify ergonomic equipment management for global workforces. New Global Vendor Management Platform gives organisations one flexible solution to manage equipment purchasing across countries, vendors, and product portfolios Humanscale, the global leader in workplace ergonomics and ergonomics consulting, today announced the launch of ergoIQ connect, a global vendor management platform that enables organizations to efficiently fulfil and implement ergonomic recommendations at scale. As the final step in the ergoIQ ecosystem, the platform streamlines equipment procurement by connecting ergonomic assessments with curated equipment catalogues, approved vendors and intelligent workflows, helping organizations transform ergonomic insights into action. While organizations have become increasingly sophisticated at identifying ergonomic risks through assessments and employee education, the process of sourcing and delivering recommended equipment often remains fragmented, manual and time-consuming. Multiple stakeholders, regional suppliers, procurement teams and inconsistent equipment standards often delay implementation leaving employees with immediate needs frustrated. ergoIQ connect was developed to solve this challenge. It provides organizations with one centralized system to manage every stage of equipment fulfilment following an ergonomic assessment. By combining configurable equipment catalogues, intelligent order routing, preferred vendor integration and real-time program visibility, ergoIQ connect transforms what has traditionally been a complex administrative process into a streamlined, scalable workflow. "Organizations have invested heavily in workplace ergonomics and wellbeing programs that identify ergonomic risks and provide employees with expert recommendations," said Jonathan Puleio, MS, CPE, Global Vice President of Humanscale Consulting. "The remaining challenge and the current bottleneck is centered on implementation. Equipment procurement is where ergonomics programs predictably stall. ergoIQ connect completes the process by connecting recommendations directly to locally approved equipment and vendors, allowing organizations to resolve ergonomic issues faster while dramatically reducing administrative effort." Designed to support organizations of every size, ergoIQ connect offers flexible workflows that adapt to existing procurement processes. Companies can empower employees to select pre-approved equipment through a self-service portal or maintain centralized control through administrator-managed ordering. Both approaches use configurable workflows that accommodate regional policies, local product availability and organizational purchasing requirements. ergoIQ connect is particularly valuable for global organizations managing hybrid workforces. A single curated product catalogue can be tailored by facility or region, ensuring employees only see equipment approved for their location while allowing organizations to maintain consistent global standards alongside local flexibility. Preferred vendors are linked to each location, enabling equipment requests to be automatically routed for fulfilment without the manual coordination traditionally required. Program administrators also gain unprecedented visibility into equipment fulfilment through a comprehensive dashboard that tracks utilization, equipment requests, procurement activity and order completion trends across locations. By incorporating equipment approvals directly into the procurement workflow, organizations can measure program performance and ensure ergonomic recommendations are implemented efficiently. ergoIQ connect builds on ergoIQ, Humanscale's industry leading cloud-based ergonomics platform, joining the existing components: * ergoIQ fit - Ergonomic self-assessments that identify postural risks and equipment needs. * ergoIQ live - Resolve complex issues through expert virtual consultations with board-certified ergonomists. * ergoIQ learn - Educate employees and professionals with online ergonomics education, certification and training. * ergoIQ pro - Manage cases, monitor progress and oversee ergonomics programmes from a single platform. Together, these integrated solutions provide organizations with an end-to-end ergonomics platform that supports every stage of the employee experience, from assessment and education to intervention, equipment delivery and measurable outcomes. "At Humanscale, our goal has always been to automate the management of a corporate ergonomics program," added Puleio. "With ergoIQ connect, we've removed one of the final barriers to achieving that goal., ensuring employees receive the equipment they need to work comfortably, safely and productively in a timely manner." The launch of ergoIQ connect reinforces Humanscale's commitment to helping organizations create healthier workplaces through a combination of ergonomics expertise, evidence-based consulting and innovative technology. Body. Planet. Materials. Humanscale explores the relationship between wellbeing, responsible design, and the changing ways Informare work at ORGATEC 2026 Cologne, Germany - October 2026 - Humanscale, the leader in high-performance ergonomic design, returns to ORGATEC 2026 with Body. Planet. Materials., an exploration of how purposeful, human-centred design can create healthier, more intuitive and adaptable experiences across the evolving workplace... Taking place at Koelnmesse in Cologne from 27-30 October, ORGATEC 2026 will bring together leading brands, designers and workplace thinkers to explore the future of contract and workplace environments. For the first time, the fair will be united by a central theme, "From Rooms to Relationships: Designing Spaces in an Ever-Changing World," examining the human dimension of space and how people connect, interact and adapt in a world of continual change. Humanscale's presentation responds to this changing landscape with a simple proposition: design should make life better for people while making a positive impact on the planet. Guided by Body. Planet. Materials., the exhibition will explore the thinking behind that ambition - from understanding how people naturally sit, move and work, to the craftsmanship and precision engineering behind Humanscale products, and the responsibility to design for lasting positive impact. Designing beyond the desk As work becomes increasingly fluid, the workplace is no longer defined by a single desk or prescribed way of working. People move throughout the day between focused work, meetings, collaboration, conversation and respite, creating a growing need for environments that can intuitively support different activities and behaviours. Across a series of distinct zones, Humanscale will create a journey through these changing modes of work, demonstrating how ergonomic thinking can extend beyond the traditional workstation to support wellbeing, comfort and performance wherever work happens. The presentation builds on Humanscale's Ergonomics Everywhere philosophy, an approach that extends ergonomic wellbeing across meeting rooms, collaborative spaces, third places and the home. Introducing TexMesh(TM): Performance, Reimagined Taking centre stage at ORGATEC 2026, Humanscale will unveil TexMesh(TM), an innovative new back option for the Liberty, World and Smart chairs that brings a richer, more tailored aesthetic to Humanscale's seating collection without compromising the ergonomic performance at its core. Re-engineered from Kvadrat's Autumn textile, TexMesh(TM) combines the breathability and responsive support of mesh with the visual richness and tactile quality of upholstery. Its innovative construction allows air to circulate while responding to the body, delivering lasting comfort alongside a warmer, more refined expression. TexMesh(TM) was developed in response to a familiar design challenge. Traditional mesh offers breathability and body-responsive support, but its technical aesthetic may not complement every interior. Upholstery introduces warmth, colour and texture, but can alter the way a chair performs. TexMesh(TM) bridges the two, bringing the refined character of upholstery to the proven, body-responsive architecture of Liberty, World and Smart. More than a new finish, TexMesh(TM) represents an evolution of Humanscale's seating collection and gives designers greater creative freedom without asking them to choose between performance and aesthetics, comfort and character. The result is seating designed to support the person and the space in equal measure. Designing for the changing ways Informare work Beyond TexMesh(TM), Humanscale will present a broader collection of products responding to the increasingly fluid ways people work, meet, collaborate and connect. Among the featured products will be Diffrient Lounge, one of the final concepts envisioned by legendary designer Niels Diffrient and recently honoured with a Red Dot Award in Product Design. Combining residential comfort with ergonomic engineering, Diffrient Lounge supports the increasingly fluid relationship between work, relaxation and informal collaboration. Humanscale will also present eFloat Quattro Studio, a purpose-built meeting table designed for today's hybrid collaboration environments. Created for small-group meetings of two to seven people, the table brings connectivity, power and display support together in one integrated solution. Supporting both seated and standing collaboration, it allows organisations to create flexible meeting environments without complex AV infrastructure or permanent room builds. For the individual workstation, NeatSuite brings together four integrated solutions - NeatTech, NeatCharge, NeatHub and NeatLinks - to address power, cables and clutter across the workspace. The system reflects Humanscale's philosophy of removing unnecessary complexity to create environments that are simpler, more intuitive and easier to use. Joining the Neat Suite system is M/Charge, Humanscale's modular 2-in-1 magnetic wireless charging solution, designed to integrate with the M/Connect 3 ecosystem or function independently as a standalone charging station. Together, the collection demonstrates Humanscale's approach to purposeful design: understanding genuine human needs and responding through simplicity, craftsmanship and precision engineering. Beyond the Desk: Designing for Real Human Behaviour Wednesday 28 October, 15:30 Humanscale, Hall 7.1 In collaboration with Architonic Alongside its product presentation, Humanscale will use ORGATEC as a platform for conversations about the ideas shaping the future of work. In collaboration with Architonic, Beyond the Desk: Designing for Real Human Behaviour will explore how understanding the way people actually work can lead to more intuitive products, healthier workplaces and better human experiences. As people move between individual workstations, meeting rooms, collaborative spaces, lounges, cafés and home environments, designing for work increasingly means designing for movement and choice. Rather than attempting to predict the next workplace trend, the conversation will ask what designers can learn by observing how people actually behave: how they sit, move, interact, focus and connect. Architonic Editor-in-Chief Simon Keane-Cowell will be in conversation with Humanscale VP Design & Innovation Sergio Silva, exploring how research, observation, prototyping and continuous testing can translate human behaviour into simpler, more intuitive design. The conversation will also explore what happens when ergonomics moves beyond the desk - from designing an ergonomic workstation to creating an entire workplace ecosystem that supports comfort, wellbeing and performance across different ways of working. Better for people and planet Body. Planet. Materials. continues Humanscale's longstanding belief that the wellbeing of people and the planet should not be considered separately. Humanscale's approach combines ergonomic research and human-centred design with a commitment to reducing environmental impact and creating products intended for long-term use. As a certified B Corporation, the company continues to pursue its Planet Positive approach while exploring how thoughtful design can create healthier experiences across increasingly diverse places of work. At ORGATEC 2026, this philosophy comes together through products, stories and conversations that demonstrate a simple idea: as the workplace continues to change, good design starts with understanding what people need - and responding with purpose. Visit Humanscale at ORGATEC 2026 Dates: Tuesday 27 October - Friday 30 October 2026 Venue: Koelnmesse, Cologne, Germany Stand: Hall 7.1 Happy Hour: Tuesday - Thursday: 16:00 - 18:00
Humanscale expands ergoIQ to streamline ergonomic equipment management for global workforces. As organizations navigate increasingly distributed and hybrid workforces, managing workplace ergonomics across locations has become more complex. Humanscale is addressing one of the persistent gaps in that process with the launch of ergoIQ connect, a new global vendor management platform designed to simplify how organizations procure and deliver ergonomic equipment across countries, vendors and product portfolios. The platform expands Humanscale's existing ergoIQ ecosystem, connecting ergonomic assessments and recommendations directly with approved products, vendors and procurement workflows. The goal is to help organizations move more efficiently from identifying an ergonomic need to actually providing employees with the appropriate equipment. For many companies, identifying workplace ergonomic risks has become relatively sophisticated. Assessments, employee education and professional consultations can pinpoint issues and recommend solutions, but implementing those recommendations can remain fragmented. Procurement teams, regional suppliers, varying product availability and different equipment standards can create delays between identifying a problem and resolving it. Equipment procurement is where ergonomics programs predictably stall. ergoIQ connect completes the process by connecting recommendations directly to locally approved equipment and vendors, allowing organizations to resolve ergonomic issues faster while dramatically reducing administrative effort." Connecting Ergonomics With Procurement With ergoIQ connect, Humanscale brings equipment fulfillment into the same broader ecosystem used to assess, educate and manage workplace ergonomics. Organizations can configure equipment catalogs based on their own standards and purchasing requirements, allowing employees to select from pre-approved products through a self-service portal or enabling administrators to maintain centralized control over ordering. Workflows can also be adjusted according to regional policies and local product availability, an increasingly important capability for companies operating across multiple markets. For global organizations, a single curated product catalog can be adapted by facility or region so employees see equipment approved for their location. Preferred vendors can then be associated with individual locations, automatically routing equipment requests for fulfillment rather than requiring administrators to coordinate each order manually. The platform also gives workplace and ergonomics teams greater visibility into what happens after an assessment is completed. A centralized dashboard tracks utilization, equipment requests, procurement activity and order-completion trends across locations. By incorporating approvals and purchasing into the ergonomics workflow, organizations can more easily evaluate whether recommendations are ultimately being implemented. Building an End-to-End Ergonomics Ecosystem ergoIQ connect becomes the latest component of Humanscale's cloud-based ergoIQ platform, which brings together several aspects of corporate ergonomics management. The ecosystem includes ergoIQ fit, which provides ergonomic self-assessments to identify postural risks and equipment needs; ergoIQ live, which connects employees with board-certified ergonomists for virtual consultations; ergoIQ learn, an online education, certification and training platform; and ergoIQ pro, which enables organizations to manage cases and monitor ergonomics programs from a centralized platform. The addition of connect extends that process into equipment delivery, giving Humanscale an integrated system spanning assessment, education, expert intervention, program management and procurement. "At Humanscale, our goal has always been to automate the management of a corporate ergonomics program," Puleio said. "With ergoIQ connect, we've removed one of the final barriers to achieving that goal, ensuring employees receive the equipment they need to work comfortably, safely and productively in a timely manner." The launch also reflects a broader evolution for Humanscale. While the company is widely recognized for ergonomic workplace products, including seating, sit/stand solutions and monitor arms, its Humanscale Consulting division includes more than 100 board-certified ergonomists, kinesiologists, occupational therapists and physical therapists who design and manage workplace ergonomics programs. The ergoIQ platform was developed from that expertise, translating Humanscale's knowledge of human movement and workplace design into a scalable technology platform. For organizations managing employees across offices, homes and other work environments, the expansion positions Humanscale not simply as an ergonomic product manufacturer, but as a provider of the infrastructure used to identify, manage and resolve ergonomic needs across the employee experience. With ergoIQ connect, the company is bringing the final procurement and fulfillment stage into that system - closing the gap between recommending an ergonomic solution and putting it into an employee's hands.
Humanscale expands Ocean Collection with Freedom Ocean chair made from reclaimed fishing nets. Humanscale has expanded its Ocean Collection with the launch of the Freedom Ocean, a new ergonomic office chair made using reclaimed fishing nets and ocean plastic. The launch builds on the company's sustainability strategy by combining its established ergonomic seating design with recycled marine waste. Based on the iconic Freedom Chair, originally designed by Niels Diffrient and recognised as 'the gold standard in office seating', the Freedom Ocean has been re-engineered using reclaimed fishing nets and ocean-bound plastic. The chair joins Humanscale's Ocean Collection, which the company introduced in 2016 as the first commercial furniture range to incorporate discarded fishing nets into seating products. According to Humanscale, discarded fishing nets account for around 20% of marine plastic waste, contributing to the destruction of marine ecosystems and taking centuries to decompose. Each Freedom Ocean chair contains up to 2kg of reclaimed fishing and boating gear, helping to divert waste from the ocean while creating durable workplace furniture. 'We challenge the rest of the industry to put in the hard work and financial commitments to make a transformative impact on the Earth,' said Jane Abernethy, Chief Sustainability Officer at Humanscale. 'The Freedom Ocean reflects our belief that great design and environmental responsibility must go hand in hand.' Ergonomic performance Designed to accommodate around 95% of users, the Freedom Ocean retains the ergonomic features of the original Freedom Chair. These include a weight-compensating recline that automatically adjusts to the sitter, a pivoting backrest that maintains continuous lumbar support, contoured seat cushions with a waterfall edge to reduce pressure points, and synchronous armrests that move with the user. An optional headrest is also available for additional support. The chair has been designed with a modular construction to simplify maintenance and part replacement, extending its service life and reducing waste. Optional accessories include Technogel(R) cushions and a coat hanger. Sustainability credentials The Freedom Ocean is manufactured in Humanscale's TRUE Zero Waste facilities and contains post-consumer recycled content while remaining free from harmful chemicals. It is Living Product Certified, meaning the product is designed to be climate, water and energy positive. The chair also carries several sustainability certifications, including DECLARE(R)- LBC Red List Approved, a Health Product Declaration (HPD), BIFMA LEVEL(R) 3, and SCS Indoor Advantage(TM) Gold for indoor air quality. Materials and availability The Freedom Ocean is available in a range of chrome-free leather and fabric upholstery options, including Steelcut Trio, Hallingdal 65 and Elmosoft, with Black Polished Aluminium and Black frame finishes. It is offered in task, meeting and stool versions and is backed by a 15-year warranty on parts and a five-year warranty on fabrics and cushions. The Freedom Ocean is available through Humanscale's global network of authorised distributors and via the company's website.
Humanscale launches second-life program for task chairs. By Canadian Interiors On Jul 13, 2026 Humanscale has launched Re-Freshed, a second-life program that extends the lifespan of its products through refurbishment and resale. Beginning with the Freedom, Smart, and Liberty Chairs, the initiative builds on the company's focus on durable design, material health, and products intended for repeated use over time. The Freedom Chair, which was originally introduced over 25 years ago, was engineered for longevity, with replaceable components and a design that remains relevant across generations of workplaces. Through Re-Freshed, returned chairs are restored and reintroduced into the market, extending product life and reducing waste. Each chair undergoes a structured refurbishment process that includes inspection, sanitization, and component review. High-touch parts such as arm pads, textiles, casters, and gas cylinders are replaced, while core structural elements are retained and reused. As a result, refurbished products retain the majority of their original materials while reducing the environmental impact associated with new manufacturing. Compared to a brand-new chair, a Re-Freshed chair reduces material use by 78 per cent, water consumption by 73 per cent, greenhouse gas emissions by 69 per cent, and energy use by 67 per cent. These savings demonstrate the environmental benefits of extending product lifecycles and underscore the role refurbishment can play in reducing resource extraction and carbon emissions. Re-Freshed also reflects Humanscale's broader approach to design for reuse. For decades, the company has prioritized serviceability, repairability, and material efficiency to extend product lifecycles and reduce landfill waste. Its approach to circularity combines two elements: designing products for longevity and building systems that enable reuse at scale. Traditional furniture production follows a linear model in which products are made, used, and discarded. A circular model keeps materials in use for as long as possible, reducing resource extraction, energy consumption, emissions, and waste. Since materials such as wood, metal, and plastics are difficult to recycle, circular systems are increasingly important in addressing global waste challenges. To support this shift, Humanscale has spent years developing and testing circular processes through pilot programs and field learning, refining a system designed to scale as products reach the end of their first life.
