IDEAYA Biosciences develops targeted cancer therapies by combining translational biomarkers with small molecule drug discovery to identify and treat specific patient populations defined by molecular diagnostics. Its product work relies on identifying biomarkers that predict which patients will respond to a given therapy and then designing and optimizing small molecules that target those biology. The company differentiates itself by grounding drug discovery in biomarker-driven precision medicine—mapping patient subgroups to therapies rather than pursuing broad oncology indications—and by pursuing partnerships and licensing to fund R&D and reach commercialization. The goal is to deliver precise, biomarker-guided cancer treatments that improve outcomes for defined patient groups and bring those therapies to market through collaborations and eventual sales of approved drugs.

IDEAYA Biosciences has enrolled the first patient in a Phase 1/2 clinical trial evaluating IDE892, an MTA-cooperative PRMT5 inhibitor, combined with IDE397, a MAT2A inhibitor, for MTAP-deleted pancreatic and lung cancers. MTAP deletion occurs in up to 40% of pancreatic cancers and approximately 15% of non-small cell lung cancer. IDE892 demonstrates favourable drug-like properties, including a CYP3A4 IC50 exceeding 45 micromolar and no time-dependent inhibition of major cytochrome P450s. The company's Phase 1 monotherapy escalation has cleared multiple dose cohorts without reaching maximum tolerated dose, with expansion anticipated in Q3 2026. Preclinical studies showed dual PRMT5 and MAT2A inhibition produced potent anti-tumour activity in MTAP-deleted models. IDEAYA is also collaborating with Roche to evaluate IDE892 with pan-RAS inhibitor RG6505 in pancreatic cancer.
