Infarm grows fresh produce in modular, IoT-connected vertical farms placed inside urban spaces like supermarkets, restaurants, and warehouses. It operates a Farming-as-a-Service model, delivering turnkey farming modules that enable hydroponic, controlled-environment cultivation directly at the point of consumption. The system combines compact, scalable farms with monitoring data and automation to manage light, water, nutrients, and temperature, aiming to keep produce local and reduce transportation and waste. Compared with peers, Infarm emphasizes deploying farms inside existing urban footprints and supplying retailers and partners with turnkey, near-site growing solutions, though it has faced financial restructuring and shifted from global expansion to a more regional North American focus on kosher, insect-free salad leaves. The overarching goal is to increase local food production, improve food security, and reduce the environmental footprint of the food supply chain.
