Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • February 2026 RELEX expansion improves forecasting, VMI, and assortment planning across six DCs.
  • Roseburg printing investment should increase title availability by millions and speed western fulfillment.
  • Covered could monetize publisher discovery workflows if Ingram undercuts Edelweiss pricing in 2027.

What critics are saying

  • Edelweiss and NetGalley already own publisher workflows; Covered must win fast by 2027.
  • One million SKU planning complexity makes service failures immediately visible to publishers and retailers.
  • If Roseburg or other DC expansions slip, Ingram loses speed advantage and margin leverage.

What makes Ingram Content Group unique

  • Ingram controls distribution, print-on-demand, and wholesale, spanning six global DCs in 2026.
  • Roseburg expansion adds co-located printing, shortening western U.S. delivery times by late 2026.
  • Covered targets Edelweiss and NetGalley with catalogs, DRCs, and ordering in 2027.

Cashmere raises $5M to connect premium publishers with generative AI

Cashmere, a data infrastructure platform connecting premium publishers with AI systems, has raised $5 million in seed funding led by Reach Capital. The round included participation from Founders Future, Fortitude Ventures, Lightshed Ventures and strategic investors Ingram Content Group, Naver Corp and Pearson Publishing. Founded to bridge the gap between premium content and generative AI, Cashmere provides infrastructure for publishers to license and deliver authoritative data to AI models. The company already works with publishers including John Wiley & Sons and Harvard Business Publishing, alongside AI companies like Perplexity. The funding follows a pre-seed round in May 2025 backed by the Perplexity Fund and F7 Ventures. Cashmere will use the investment to accelerate product development and expand within academic, professional and market intelligence publishing sectors.
