Mixlab and Instinct partner to transform prescription workflows for veterinary hospitals. GlobeNewswire | Instinct Science Today at 5:20am PDT NEW YORK, April 22, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - As veterinary hospitals manage growing clinical complexity and administrative demands, workflow efficiency remains a key priority for both patient outcomes and team sustainability. Mixlab, the leading modern, full-service veterinary pharmacy, and Instinct, a medical-first, cloud-based veterinary practice management platform, have launched a native integration that embeds pharmacy directly into the clinical workflow. This partnership reflects a shared focus on simplifying prescribing and supporting veterinarians with innovation and connected technology that enhances efficiency and patient care. With this integration, practices using Instinct can browse Mixlab's pharmacy catalog and submit prescriptions directly within Instinct. Prescription status updates flow back into Instinct in real time, providing full visibility from submission through fulfillment. Since launching the beta at the end of last year, the integration has seen sustained week-over-week growth, with new practices activating each week, early indicators of strong adoption and meaningful operational value for veterinary teams. "The integration has been great. It has streamlined the process to prescribe and document, which has been much appreciated. It is also helpful to be able to see what common sizes and formulations are available by just searching in the prescribing menu," said Dr. Eileen Seage, VMD, DACVIM (SAIM), The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center. Beyond workflow efficiency, Instinct practices also gain access to Mixlab's differentiated pharmacy experience. Known for its personalized, high-touch client experience, modern and proactive communication, industry-leading turnaround times and fast, free nationwide shipping, Mixlab combines quality and care to make the prescription medication process seamless, reliable and stress-free for pets, their owners and the veterinarians that care for them. Designed for High-Acuity Care Environments Specialty and emergency hospitals operate in some of the most demanding clinical settings in veterinary medicine, often managing complex cases that require customized medications and rapid turnaround. The integration: * Eliminates dual logins and redundant data entry * Provides full prescription transparency from submission through fulfillment * Supports complex specialty cases with access to advanced compounding * Faster time to treatment, backed by Mixlab's industry-leading turnaround times and fast and free shipping * Reduces administrative burden so teams can focus on patient care "Veterinary teams are under pressure to do more with less," said Elliott Garber, VP of Strategic Partnerships at Instinct. "By integrating Mixlab directly into Instinct, we're removing friction from one of the most common clinical workflows. Our customers can now prescribe confidently and efficiently within the patient record, without breaking focus." A Shift Toward Connected Veterinary Workflows This partnership reflects a broader industry movement toward tighter integration across veterinary technology platforms. As hospitals increasingly prioritize operational efficiency and connected systems, embedded pharmacy solutions are becoming a strategic necessity rather than a convenience. "This integration represents a meaningful expansion of Mixlab's specialty footprint and aligns with our broader strategy to embed pharmacy directly into the systems veterinarians rely on every day," said Libby Loskota, Chief Revenue Officer at Mixlab. "By partnering with Instinct, we're advancing a more connected experience from diagnosis to delivery, helping teams move faster and stay focused on critical patient care." The Instinct integration builds on Mixlab's growing ecosystem of technology partnerships, with additional workflow innovations and platform integrations planned throughout 2026. Similarly, Instinct maintains an open partner ecosystem, enabling veterinary hospitals to seamlessly connect with other systems to improve productivity and provide exceptional care to patients. The integration is available immediately to Instinct customers nationwide. How veterinary teams can finally say goodbye to after-hours charting.

How veterinary teams can finally say goodbye to after-hours charting. For many veterinarians, their workday doesn't end when the last patient or team member leaves. It ends hours later - after notes are finished, records are updated, and the mental load of the day finally lifts. If that sounds familiar, you're not alone. In a recent webinar, I partnered with Gillian Clowes, its VP of Product Marketing, to talk about why veterinary teams are stuck in this cycle - and how modern workflows are helping practices finally break free. Why after-hours charting is still a major problem in veterinary medicine. Picture this: Your last appointment ends. The client walks out. Everything's quiet. Then you look at your notes list - and your stomach sinks. That feeling is widespread. More than ever, veterinary teams are reporting: * 2+ hours per day spent on unpaid charting and administrative work * 50% burnout rates across the profession * 69% of professionals describing their work environment as "chaotic" This isn't just a time issue - it's a sustainability issue. With a projected veterinarian shortage by 2030, retaining skilled professionals depends on improving and optimizing everyone's daily workflows - not just upping compensation or hiring more people. Why early AI scribing tools haven't fully solved the documentation problem. Many practices have already tried AI documentation tools. But adoption hasn't been seamless. In a poll during its webinar, 46% of participants said they're using AI scribing - but the workflow is clunky. Only 15% said it's working well. That's part of why Instinct acquired ScribbleVet - bringing AI scribing directly into an integrated EMR workflow. This reflects where the technology is right now. AI scribes quickly entered veterinary medicine with high expectations. Many teams are now in what's often called the "trough of disillusionment" - where the promise is clear, but the day-to-day reality still needs refinement. Common frustrations include copy-pasting between systems, notes that still require heavy editing, and constant tab-switching. The fix isn't just better AI. It's better integration. What actually saves time: integrated workflows. One of the biggest insights from its webinar: AI alone doesn't save time - integrated workflows do. When documentation tools live inside a connected system, the hidden work disappears. Before the appointment: AI-powered document summaries surface key patient history instantly, with every insight linked back to the original source for verification. Clinicians walk in better prepared and spend less time searching. During the appointment: Real-time AI scribing captures the conversation as it happens and generates a structured SOAP note automatically. By the time the client walks out, the note is largely done - not waiting in a pile at the end of the day. After the appointment: When notes flow directly into the medical record, drug information, discharge summaries, and client communication are all accessible in the same workflow. There's no switching, no re-entering, no reformatting. It's also worth noting: integrated doesn't mean closed off. ScribbleVet continues to work with other PIMS, plus Instinct EMR remains compatible with other AI tools (like VetRec and CoVet). The goal is to meet your team where you already are - not force a rip-and-replace. At the 2026 Western Veterinary Conference, Gillian asked two veterinarians what they'd do with that time back. One said, "Get home to my family." The other: "See more patients." Different goals - both valid. Efficiency isn't one outcome. It's having control over how you spend your time. The future of veterinary documentation is closer than you think. While AI scribing is one of the fastest-adopted technologies in veterinary medicine, Instinct Science, LLC is still early in its evolution. What's already possible today: significant reductions in after-hours charting, faster patient prep, and more consistent documentation. What's coming: tighter integrations, smarter clinical insights, and workflows that feel seamless rather than stitched together. The goal isn't to replace clinical thinking. It's to remove the friction around it so the people delivering care can focus on what matters most. After-hours charting has been accepted as part of the job for too long. With the right tools and integrated workflows, it doesn't have to be anymore. Curious to learn more about Instinct EMR? A short, no-pressure demo is an easy way to see how it can support your team!
