Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Peter Hegland said JAMS is growing high teens to low twenties in June 2026.
  • JAMS reported about 1,000 customers, giving AI features immediate distribution.
  • JAX and MCP are included at no extra cost, reducing adoption friction for existing accounts.

What critics are saying

  • BMC Control-M, Redwood RunMyJobs, and Stonebranch all shipped competing AI orchestration features in 2026.
  • JAMS is only about 70 people against BMC and Redwood's far larger engineering budgets.
  • If 1,000 customers and $25 million ARR stall, PSG's carve-out thesis weakens quickly.

What makes JAMS Software unique

  • JAMS' June 2025 carve-out made it a pure-play workload automation company under Peter Hegland.
  • JAX and JAMS MCP embed AI and MCP workflows directly inside JAMS Web.
  • JAMS claims local-model, permissioned execution with customer-network data isolation and audit trails.

JAMS launches JAX AI agent and MCP connector for enterprise job scheduling at no extra cost

JAMS Software has launched two AI capabilities for enterprise job scheduling: JAX, an AI agent integrated into its web client, and JAMS MCP, a connector based on the Model Context Protocol standard. Both tools are available at no additional cost to JAMS Web customers. JAX enables IT teams to query jobs, troubleshoot failures, and access support in plain language. JAMS MCP brings these capabilities to external AI coding tools including Cursor, VS Code with Copilot, and Claude Desktop. Both features operate within customers' own networks and act with individual user permissions. Customers can choose their AI model, including local models that keep operational data onshore. JAMS does not train on customer data. The tools address the challenge of managing automation environments that grow faster than IT teams can scale. Every action requires user approval, and all operations are logged in dedicated audit trails.
