Odin, a UK-based investment platform, has launched Delaware-based investment vehicles for global investors, aiming to compete with AngelList, Carta and Sydecar. The company argues that whilst venture capital claims to be borderless, cross-border deals remain tangled in legal structures, tax treatments and regional compliance. Founded in 2021 by Patrick Ryan and Mary Lin, Odin's new Delaware Limited Partnership structure can be launched in under two hours, supports multiple currencies including USD, EUR and GBP, and complies with UK and EU regulations. The platform has already administered over 1,500 vehicles and more than $600 million in assets across 100 countries. Pricing starts at $6,000 per deal. Ryan says 25% of deals on Odin's platform already involve US companies, and argues US competitors remain too domestically focused for European investors navigating international regulations.
TLDR: Odin, the UK-based angel investor marketplace startup, has gone public and raised $3 million in seed funding.
U.K. Angel investor marketplace startup Odin has been operating publicly for the last 18 months, in a mostly invite-only manner, but could possibly be Europe's answer to AngelList.
London-based Odin has raised $3m (£2.4m) in a seed round including contributions from 220 angels through its own investment platform.
French startup Roundtable has raised a $3.2 million (€3 million) funding round from a hundred business angels. That’s quite a large group of individual investors — but that’s because Roundtable runs an angel investment platform for European startups. Backed by eFounders, the company takes care of the administrative, legal and financial processes involved with startup investments.Roundtable isn’t the first investment platform focused on startup investments. In particular, AngelList popularized the concept of group investments with AngelList Syndicates. Essentially, an angel investor brings an investment opportunity to the platform and other angels can follow the lead angel on a deal-by-deal basis.AngelList isn’t the only company facilitating startup investment. For instance, in the U.K., Seedrs and Odin also manage fundraising deals for startups.Roundtable specifically focuses on European startups and works particularly well for startups based in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg
