Etogas/HZI EtoGas designs and builds turnkey Power-to-Gas plants that convert surplus renewable electricity into storable gases such as green hydrogen and synthetic natural gas. The process starts with electrolysis to split water into hydrogen, which can be used directly or combined with carbon dioxide in a methanation step to produce SNG that works with existing gas infrastructure. The company provides design, construction, service, maintenance, and feasibility and operational studies, with the Werlte Audi e-gas plant as a notable industrial-scale example. After being acquired by Hitachi Zosen Inova, it operates as HZI EtoGas to leverage a global network for large projects, with the goal of supporting grid stability and long-term decarbonization by storing renewable energy as synthetic gas.
