Kleinfelder launches ohio-based PFAS lab with nationwide mobile testing capabilities.

Kleinfelder launches ohio-based PFAS lab with nationwide mobile testing capabilities. April 30, 2026 SAN DIEGO, Calif. (April 30, 2026) - Kleinfelder, Inc. (Kleinfelder) has expanded its water treatment and laboratory services with the launch of two new PFAS testing capabilities: a dedicated laboratory and mobile pilot units designed, owned, and deployed by Kleinfelder's technical professionals. The PFAS laboratory, based in Kleinfelder's McClure, Ohio, location, serves clients nationwide and accepts samples from across the United States. The mobile pilot units can be deployed throughout North America, as client requirements dictate. As compliance deadlines to meet drinking water standards for perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, commonly referred to as PFAS, quickly approach, utilities and site owners face pressure to act, often with insufficient performance data available to guide decisions. Kleinfelder's new laboratory and mobile pilot units give utilities and site owners the ability to evaluate treatment options under realistic conditions and choose the most effective approach to meet regulations and evolving groundwater remediation objectives. Designed to help close the gap between regulatory requirements and available site data, these two new tools combine Kleinfelder's technical experience with real-world testing to support confident, data-backed decisions to inform full-scale investments. "PFAS treatment isn't one-size-fits-all," said Rebecca Katzke, PE, Kleinfelder's National Water Market Manager. "Our expanded PFAS testing capabilities provide practical answers by showing how different media perform in a client's water, how systems operate over time, and how utilities can plan for long-term compliance with confidence." Comprehensive services from evaluation to implementation. The treatability laboratory includes both Rapid Small-Scale Column Testing (RSSCTs) and batch isotherm bench-scale testing, allowing side-by-side evaluation of granular activated carbon (GAC), ion exchange, and alternative media under conditions that replicate full-scale operation. The automated, containerized mobile pilot units feature similar treatment systems to the fixed lab. Pilot systems can be configured for pressurized or gravity-flow applications and support both groundwater and surface water treatment. Integrated backwashing capabilities provide insight into pressure buildup, fouling, and backwashing needs. The mobility of these units allows testing to occur directly at client sites, producing a greater volume of high-quality, site-specific performance data. For each option, Kleinfelder's comprehensive approach delivers: * Performance data tied directly to operating conditions * Evaluation of multiple treatment media types and suppliers * Scalable results that support full-scale design and cost forecasting Either option helps clients conduct appropriate evaluations to reduce uncertainty, shorten decision timelines, and may help avoid costly redesigns later in the project lifecycle. A practical path forward for compliance. These two new testing capabilities strengthen client access to Kleinfelder's broader PFAS and emerging contaminants services, including regulatory support, treatment design, equipment procurement, and construction oversight. Clients can move seamlessly from testing and evaluation into engineered treatment systems and ongoing operational support while working with one integrated team. Kleinfelder has supported PFAS investigations, pilots, and treatment projects nationwide, as regulations continue to evolve. Kleinfelder. Bright people. Right solutions.
