Kohl's names Wendy Arlin board chair after John Schlifske retires, adds Niren Chaudhary

Kohl's Corporation announced that John E. Schlifske retired as independent Board Chair on 28 July 2026 for personal reasons. Current director Wendy Arlin has taken over as Chair whilst retaining her Finance Committee and Audit Committee roles. The company also added Niren Chaudhary, a veteran consumer and restaurant executive, to the Board. His multi-brand experience could influence Kohl's approach to customer engagement and format evolution. In July 2026, Kohl's extended its revolving credit facility to 2031. This extension provides liquidity as the company manages weak comparable sales and ongoing reinvestment. The board changes appear incremental rather than catalytic. Investors are watching for potential shifts in capital allocation oversight amid earnings volatility and store traffic pressure.
