Corat Therapeutics, a Braunschweig-based biotech company, has received €1.35 million through Germany's R&D tax incentive scheme for its COVID-19 antibody development work. The funding was secured retrospectively with assistance from funding specialist LEYTON. The company developed COR-101, an antibody treatment against SARS-CoV-2, completing clinical trials with 45 patients within eleven months of the pandemic's outbreak. Operating with around ten employees and no in-house laboratories, Corat coordinates research through specialised partners. The company discovered the funding opportunity in August 2025. Germany's 'Forschungszulage' programme allows retrospective claims for up to four years and can be combined with other funding schemes. Corat plans to use the funding for follow-up projects, including antibodies and inhalation therapies for bacterial lung infections.
