Overview

Live! Casino & Hotel Virginia is a large, mixed-use casino-resort under development in Petersburg, Virginia, created through a partnership between The Cordish Companies and Bruce Smith Enterprise. The project combines gaming (slot machines, table games, poker room, sportsbook), a 200-room luxury hotel, a 4,000-seat performing arts venue, extensive meeting space, and about 20 dining options to attract visitors for gambling, lodging, dining, and events. A temporary casino opened in 2026 to accelerate job creation and regional impact ahead of the full resort’s 2027 opening, with the permanent site offering a 1,600-slot floor, more than 65 live table games, and a comprehensive entertainment and convention ecosystem. The goal is to anchor a larger mixed-use development along the I-95 corridor, generate billions in regional economic activity, and create around 1,600 permanent jobs by delivering gaming, lodging, dining, and live events.
