Luminate introduces global framework to track & measure ai-generated music. Luminate has introduced a new framework to help the music industry identify and track AI-generated music. Powered by its proprietary technology, Luminate's CONNECT platform can now flag AI-generated songs and artists worldwide. The feature will roll out to customers and partners later this year. Luminate is also working with major DSPs and AI music companies to bring self-reported streaming and attribution data directly into CONNECT. The new system will serve as a central resource for AI music data, giving artists, labels, publishers, managers and brand partners more visibility into how AI-generated music is created, distributed and consumed. "The rapid growth of AI-generated music has outpaced the industry's ability to consistently identify it and measure its impact," says Luminate CEO Rob Jonas. "Greater visibility is critical to understanding broader trends, assessing the risk of fraud and making informed decisions. Luminate has always been the entertainment business's source of truth, and tracking AI-generated music with the same rigor we apply to every other category is core to our mission." Luminate's approach combines data from DSPs, AI music companies and its own identification technology. Together, the sources are designed to provide a clearer view of AI-generated music and how it moves through the global music ecosystem. The system works in three ways: 1. Proprietary Identification: Luminate's technology analyzes streaming data, metadata and audio to identify AI-generated music in CONNECT. 2. Streaming Data: As DSPs develop their own AI identification tools, Luminate will bring that data into CONNECT through its existing partnerships. 3. Source Attribution: Luminate is working with AI music companies to receive attribution data directly as AI-generated content is created, before it reaches DSPs. Content identified as AI-generated will receive a new "AI Generated" label on songs and artist profiles in CONNECT. Luminate will also offer a review process for artists and labels to challenge incorrect labels. "This is a starting point," continues Jonas. "No single organization can address this challenge alone; the industry needs a collaborative approach to more accurately understand, track and measure AI-generated music. We invite DSPs and AI music companies that share this view to join us in advancing it together." Madison Hahnen is Project Manager at MusicRow Magazine, where she helps carry out operational objectives and large-scale projects for the company. She also manages the company's subscriptions. Hahnen graduated from Bryant University in May of 2020 with a B.S. in Team & Project Management and a minor in communication studies. Prior to MusicRow, she held internship roles with Make Wake Artists and Song Suffragettes.

China streaming data will now shape Billboard charts. Billboard's Global Charts will now include music consumption data from China. Luminate struck a deal with Tencent Music Entertainment Group (TME) to feed streaming and sales figures into Billboard's weekly rankings. This change fills a long-standing gap and gives the charts a clearer view of global listening. Data sources & rollout. Luminate will pull metrics from QQ Music, Kugou, Kuwo, and JOOX via the TME Chart. Subscribers to Luminate's CONNECT platform will see the new data in the coming weeks. Moreover, Luminate's CEO Rob Jonas called the partnership "a pivotal moment for the global music industry." TC Pan of TME described the deal as "a data-driven effort to establish a unified global content ecosystem." Ryan Liang at TME said the agreement strengthens the TME Chart's role as a bridge to global audiences. TME brings real scale to the table. As of Q2 2025, its platforms reported 553 million monthly active users and 124.4 million paying subscribers. Consequently, listening habits in China can now move songs on the Global Charts. That matters for artists and labels. Therefore, managers and A&R teams should include Chinese performance in their strategies. Coverage & benefits. Previously, Billboard used the UNI Chart for some Chinese insight. However, UNI offered only limited visibility. Now, full streaming and sales data will feed directly into Billboard's flagship Global Charts. This integration improves fairness and reduces blind spots. Additionally, it gives Chinese creators clearer routes to international recognition. At the same time, international acts gain better signals about where they resonate in China. The practical effects will show up in promotion and playlisting. Songs that chart well in China may gain more placement on global playlists. Consequently, marketing teams can target campaigns with better precision. Moreover, data-driven decisions will improve sync, touring, and release planning across regions. In short, Billboard and Luminate have made the global charts more inclusive. The move promises richer insights and fairer rankings. Ultimately, fans and industry professionals will see charts that reflect more voices and more tastes from around the world.
