MainSpring

Fuel-flexible onsite power via linear generator

Overview

MainSpring Energy develops and manufactures advanced linear generators for onsite power generation. The Mainspring Linear Generator uses a flameless, low-temperature reaction between compressed air and fuel to directly convert linear motion into electricity and can run on natural gas, biogas, hydrogen, or ammonia with fuel-switching flexibility. This setup enables firming of intermittent renewables and provides scalable power from 250 kW to multi-megawatt installations for data centers, industrial facilities, utilities, and microgrids. The goal is to accelerate the transition to a carbon-free grid by supplying reliable, configurable onsite power and expanding manufacturing to serve commercial, industrial, data center, and utility customers.
