Marshall Medical Center receives 2026 Women's Choice award(r) as one of America's best hospitals for ER wait time & efficiency. Health system Monday, March 2, 2026 LEWISBURG, Tenn. - Marshall Medical Center has been named one of the Best Hospitals for Emergency Timeliness by the Women's Choice Award, America's trusted referral source for the best in health care. This recognition places Marshall Medical Center in the top 4% of 4,655 U.S. hospitals offering emergency care services. "This recognition is a reflection of the multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, specialists and technicians who work together to provide quality care for our patients," said Maury Regional Health CEO of Rural Hospitals Phyllis Brown. "This award validates our commitment to maintaining strong systems and processes that enable our ER to operate efficiently, especially when time is of the essence in an emergency." Emergency departments play a critical role in the health care system, delivering life-saving care when every second counts. Unlike other hospital settings, ER teams often have only one brief encounter with patients - typically during moments of high stress and urgency - making timeliness, efficiency and patient experience essential. "Emergency departments can be incredibly stressful - especially for the elderly or a parent with a sick or injured child," said Delia Passi, founder and CEO of the Women's Choice Award. "In those critical moments, time becomes more precious than gold. The ER is a place where every second matters, and swift, informed decisions can save lives. That's why we honor hospitals that not only deliver care quickly but also earn high patient recommendation scores - demonstrating their commitment to both efficiency and compassion when it matters most." The Best Hospitals for ER Wait Time & Efficiency designation recognizes hospitals that excel in emergency timeliness while also providing outstanding patient experience. Rankings are based on the following performance measures reported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS): * Average time patients spend in the Emergency Department before leaving the hospital * Percentage of patients who left the Emergency Department without being seen * Admissions decision time to ED Department for admitted patients * HCAHPS recommendation rating To qualify, hospitals must meet or exceed the national average recommendation rating of 68%, ensuring that timely care is also delivered with compassion and quality. Hospitals that did not report or pass the third metric were required to rank in the top 25% for average ER time to remain eligible. Hospitals meeting these criteria and maintaining a 68%+ recommendation rating were ranked in the top 10% nationally, earning the Women's Choice Award for ER Wait Time & Efficiency. "Marshall Medical Center not only has some of the shortest ER wait times, but it also has a higher-than-average recommendation rating - an important factor for women making healthcare decisions," added Passi. Marshall Medical Center is one of 463 award recipients recognized for meeting the highest standards for emergency timeliness in the U.S. The 25-bed critical access hospital in Lewisburg serves residents of Marshall County and the surrounding area. MADISON, Wis., Dec. 7, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Exact Sciences, a leading provider of cancer screening and diagnostic tests, announced today that it awarded $1.3 million to 23 organizations through its Funding Opportunities for CRC Screening Uptake Strategies (FOCUS) Program. Grant recipients are committed to improving colorectal cancer (CRC) screening rates and making healthcare more accessible, with a focus on medically underserved populations.CRC remains the second-leading cause of cancer death in the United States.1 The disease is more treatable if caught in early stages,1 yet an estimated 60 million average-risk adults remain unscreened in the United States.2,3*The most marginalized patient populations often go unscreened for CRC, which is one reason the disease disproportionately affects certain socioeconomic groups, races, and regions in the United States.3 Half of premature CRC deaths are related to racial, ethnic, socioeconomic and geographic inequalities.4"Exact Sciences is honored to support organizations that are working to expand access and availability of screening options for often-overlooked communities," said Paul Limburg, Chief Medical Officer, Screening, at Exact Sciences. "Although colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers,5 more than 50,000 people die from this disease each year in the U.S. alone.3 We want to change that."Exact Sciences' FOCUS Program provides grant funding to community organizations, health foundations, public health organizations, and advocacy groups working to increase access to CRC screening. Exact Sciences announced an additional group of 2023 grantees earlier in the year
