Medsender provides a HIPAA-compliant digital platform for medical record sharing and faxing that integrates with EMRs. It enables one-click sharing of patient records directly from EMRs, configurable in under a minute, for clinics, enterprises, EMRs, and insurance companies. The product reduces usual friction in healthcare data transfer by eliminating slow fax lines, dropped signals, and missing documents, and it offers claim tracking so providers know when a document is delivered or viewed. Revenue comes from a subscription model with tiered options, plus ancillary COVID-era services like free fax reception into EMRs. Medsender’s goal is to cut inefficiencies in medical record handling to raise revenue and improve patient satisfaction.

Medsender named to Inc.'s 2026 list of america's fastest-growing private companies. Aug 19, 2026, 10:00 ET Medsender ranks No. 621 on the 2026 Inc. 5000, marking the company's second consecutive year on the list. NEW YORK, Aug. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Medsender(R), the platform purpose-built to automate manual front office work for independent practices, announced its inclusion on the 2026 Inc. 5000. Medsender ranked No. 621, following its 2025 debut. Featured on Inc.com, the Inc. 5000 list is the most prestigious ranking of the nation's fastest-growing companies. It offers a data-driven look at the most dynamic and independent businesses shaping the U.S. economy. Founded in 2015 and based in New York, Medsender serves a large, long-overlooked market: independent medical practices that run their front office on manual processes. Its AI agents handle the work behind faxes, referrals, calls, and lapsed patient outreach, with staff stepping in only for exceptions. Medsender integrates with more than 20 of the top electronic health record systems. "Independent practices are buried in manual work before a patient ever walks through the door: reading faxes, processing referrals, answering calls, and following up. We are building Medsender so that work happens reliably in the background, freeing staff to focus on patients and the exceptions that require human judgment." Salman Haque, Co-CEO of Medsender The trajectory reflects sustained compounding rather than a single strong year. Medsender now serves more than 1,000 practices, in all fifty states. Growth has been driven by a widening footprint across EHR systems, enhancements to referral management, and expansion into patient reactivation. Underlying all of it is the urgency around rapidly rising administrative costs in practices that cannot solve the problem by hiring. "A second year on the Inc. 5000 tells us our approach works at scale. Growth like this only happens when practices keep seeing results. We only grow fast when our practices grow fast." About Medsender Medsender automates the manual work that happens before a patient ever walks in the door. Faxes, referrals, calls, and lapsed patient outreach run on one platform instead of the point solutions practices would otherwise stitch together. For independent practices, Medsender's AI agents take a referral from arrival to scheduled appointment without staff intervention. Incoming faxes arrive read, indexed, and routed. Inbound calls are answered around the clock. Lapsed patients are brought back through automated outreach and self-scheduling. Staff step in only for exceptions. Building for this market since 2015, Medsender serves more than 1,000 practices and integrates with the electronic health record systems they run. Medsender, a fax and referral management software company, has launched an integration with athenaOne, athenahealth's EHR platform, to automate referral processing for specialty medical practices. The integration addresses a significant operational gap, as only half of all referral requests are completed and 52% of faxes require manual processing. Medsender's AI automatically reads, categorises and routes incoming faxes whilst separating referrals into a dedicated coordinator workflow that syncs directly with athenaOne. Practices using the software report up to 80% reduction in manual front-office processing, 85% faster referral processing, and two to three times more referred patients converted to scheduled appointments. The integration is now available to practices across the athenaOne network, one of the largest ambulatory EHR networks in the United States.
Specialty Practices on athenaOne can now eliminate the referral black hole. Medsender brings purpose-built fax and referral automation to the athenaOne network, reducing manual front-office processing by up to 80 percent NEW YORK, May 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Every day, practices running athenaOne lose referred patients they never knew they had. Faxes arrive unlabeled. Referrals get buried. Staff spend hours sorting documents by hand while patients who should be scheduled fall through the cracks. Medsender was built to fix that, and today it is available to practices across the athenaOne network, one of the largest ambulatory EHR networks in the United States. In a healthcare system where only half of all referral requests are ever completed[1] and 52 percent of faxes still require manual processing after receipt[2], the operational gap facing specialty practices is significant and measurable. Medsender was purpose-built to close it. Medsender, purpose-built fax and referral management software for specialty medical practices, today announced a new integration with athenaOne, the AI-native EHR and practice management solution from athenahealth. The integration extends athenaOne's capabilities by automating the manual front-office work that causes referred patients to go unscheduled and revenue to go uncaptured. "Practices on athenaOne are running sophisticated clinical operations, but too many of them are still processing faxes and referrals by hand," said Zain Qayyum, Co-CEO of Medsender. "Every fax that sits unsorted is a patient who might not get scheduled. Every referral that falls through the cracks is revenue the practice already earned and then lost. Our integration with athenaOne gives practices a dedicated solution to close that gap. It works inside their existing workflow, and practices see the impact immediately." Medsender's AI automatically reads every incoming fax, titles it, categorizes and tags it, and routes it to the right person or department before anyone on the team touches it. For specialty practices where referrals drive patient volume, Medsender goes further, separating referrals into a dedicated coordinator workflow organized in a single view visible to the entire team across all locations. Coordinators track every referred patient from intake to scheduled appointment and sync directly to athenaOne without ever leaving Medsender. "Managing fax and referral volume manually was one of the biggest drains on our front office," said Dr. Uday Khosla, MD, Managing Partner, Remix Medical, a specialty practice on athenaOne. "Every morning started with a pile of unsorted faxes and no clear picture of where our referrals stood. Since implementing Medsender, every fax is automatically organized, and every referral is visible to the whole team from the moment it arrives. We have eliminated hours of manual work every week, our coordinators spend their time scheduling patients instead of chasing paperwork, and we are converting significantly more referred patients than we were before. For any practice managing high referral volume on athenaOne, this is a capability worth looking at." Practices using Medsender report up to 80 percent reduction in manual front-office processing[3], up to 85 percent faster referral processing[3], and 2 to 3x more referred patients converted to scheduled appointments[3], with significant FTE reduction in staff time spent on fax and referral intake. Medsender's referral leakage calculator is available at medsender.com/referral-leakage-calculator. About medsender. Medsender helps specialty medical practices grow without adding staff. Its one integrated system automatically processes every incoming fax, organizes referrals into a dedicated coordinator workflow, and handles patient calls. Practices get full visibility from first fax to scheduled appointment, with everything synced to their EHR. Medsender is HIPAA compliant and HITRUST certified and integrates with athenaOne and other leading EHR systems. Ezderm, a dermatology-specific EHR and practice management platform, is opening its previously closed API to preferred technology partners, beginning with Medsender. The integration automates document routing and referrals, reducing manual front-office processing by 60 to 80 percent. The Medsender platform uses optical character recognition and AI to streamline workflows, including direct document routing into patient charts, smart folder mapping, task generation and automated patient chart creation from incoming referrals. This addresses the administrative burden of managing high volumes of faxed referrals and pathology reports in dermatology practices. The integration is currently available to Ezderm beta customers, with additional partners expected as the company transitions toward a broader open API model.
