Memorial Healthcare System in Broward County, Florida, has introduced the ExactVu micro-ultrasound platform to improve prostate cancer detection, becoming the first health system in the county to use the technology. The system is currently operational at Memorial Hospital West. The ExactVu platform operates at 29 MHz, significantly higher than traditional ultrasound's 6–12 MHz, providing clearer views of prostate tissue to guide more precise biopsies. The technology allows urologists to identify suspicious areas in real time, potentially streamlining diagnosis by eliminating the need for separate MRI appointments. According to Jonathan Silberstein, chief of urology at Memorial Healthcare System, the improved imaging enables focal therapy that treats cancerous tissue whilst preserving healthy prostate function. The American Cancer Society estimates 333,830 new prostate cancer cases will be diagnosed in the United States in 2026.
