Mikinok Enterprises is a tribal-owned online lender that provides short-term consumer loans under the Spotloan brand. It uses a proprietary, machine learning–driven underwriting engine and big data analytics to assess risk, detect fraud, and predict repayment, enabling streamlined loan applications and approvals often in under 12 minutes. The platform is scalable enough to handle up to 250,000 applications per month, serving customers across the United States who may be rejected by traditional banks. Unlike many lenders, Mikinok operates as a federally chartered Section 17 corporation of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians (TMBCI) and channels its activities into economic development for the tribe, including community programs and employment on the reservation. Its goal is to generate revenue and opportunity for the TMBCI while expanding access to accessible credit through data-driven lending and efficient underwriting.
