Monotype and Kittl have expanded their partnership to enable organisations to access Monotype font libraries directly within Kittl's AI-powered design platform. The integration allows teams to use approved brand typography without switching between systems or repeatedly downloading files. The collaboration addresses growing challenges in brand consistency as AI tools enable more people across organisations to create content. Monotype's 2025 research found that whilst 82% of creative teams consider font management essential, 42% struggle with version control. Through the integration, users can apply organisation fonts within Kittl's browser-based editor, use text effects, and swap typefaces across designs. This reduces operational friction whilst helping organisations maintain font governance and licensing compliance. The partnership builds on a 2024 collaboration that introduced Monotype typefaces to Kittl's creative community.
Monotype has launched Gotham Variable, a major evolution of the iconic Gotham typeface, celebrating 25 years since its January 2001 debut on GQ's cover. The update transforms the widely used typeface into a dynamic design system with continuous control across weight and width. Gotham Variable consolidates multiple static files into a single, performance-optimised file, improving load times and simplifying implementation. It introduces 54 new intermediate styles and expanded language support, including Vietnamese and enhanced Cyrillic and Bulgarian. The typeface, originally designed by Jonathan Hoefler and Tobias Frere-Jones, has been used by major brands including Netflix, Coca-Cola, and the Obama presidential campaign. Gotham Variable is now available on Monotype Fonts, Monotype Connect and MyFonts, offering designers enhanced creative control whilst preserving Gotham's distinctive clarity.
Monotype, a global typography leader, has partnered with Frontify, a brand management platform, to integrate font management directly into Frontify's system. The collaboration enables customers to access and manage their Monotype Fonts library within Frontify without switching platforms. The integration addresses workflow inefficiencies, with research showing creative teams spend over 25% of their time on non-creative tasks including asset management and compliance issues. Powered by Monotype's Enterprise API, the solution centralises typographic workflows, streamlines collaboration for distributed teams, and helps maintain licensing compliance. Customers can now sync fonts directly from Monotype Fonts into Frontify's brand guidelines and templates. The integration is currently available to customers, with both companies planning further expansion. Frontify serves global brands including Uber, Microsoft and Kia.
Monotype has launched AI Search, an AI-powered font discovery tool that enables designers to find typefaces using natural language prompts rather than traditional filters. The tool is now available on Monotype Fonts and MyFonts platforms in the US, UK and across Europe in five languages. AI Search allows users to describe creative intent conversationally, such as moods, brand traits or styles, and returns curated font recommendations from Monotype's library of over 4,500 foundry partners. The system provides semantic explanations for font choices and instant previews. According to Monotype research, 82% of creatives cite typography among their top three decision-making components, whilst 85% view distinctive fonts as critical to brand identity. Artist Max Trutt used the tool to select typefaces for his upcoming limited-edition artist's book, describing it as enabling him to "navigate the universe of scripts by describing my references and expectations rather than technical parameters.
