Neko Health, a startup co-founded by Spotify's Daniel Ek in 2018, plans to launch in the United States this spring pending regulatory approval. The company's first American clinic will open in New York, with additional locations to follow. Neko offers full-body health scans using imaging and blood tests to detect conditions including skin cancer, heart disease and diabetes risk. Currently operating in Sweden and the UK, where scans cost £299, the company expects to charge more in the US due to higher medical staffing and real estate costs. CEO Hjalmar Nilsonne is positioning the venture as Ek's next industry-disrupting project following his transformation of music consumption through Spotify, which launched in the US 15 years ago.

Neko Health has appointed Dr Sunita Mishra as Chief Medical Officer as the Swedish healthcare technology company prepares to launch its first US location in New York this spring. Dr Mishra joins from Amazon Health, where she served as Chief Medical Officer, and brings over two decades of clinical and executive leadership experience. Co-founded by Hjalmar Nilsonne and Spotify founder Daniel Ek, Neko Health has expanded to six clinics across Sweden and the UK since launching in 2023, with a global waitlist exceeding 300,000 people. The company's Neko Body Scan uses non-invasive technology to collect millions of health data points in minutes, assessing conditions including skin cancer, metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular risk factors. Dr Mishra will lead clinical strategy and medical operations whilst supporting the development of Neko's technology platform.
