New York University

Global university research and education collaboration

Overview

New York University (NYU) and KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) formed a cross-continental partnership in 2022 to boost research, education, and industry collaboration. The collaboration combines NYU’s and KAIST’s strengths to create joint programs and a shared presence in New York City. It brings together more than 200 faculty from both institutions to pursue joint research and education initiatives, including dual-degree programs at undergraduate and graduate levels and study-away and exchange opportunities. Unlike typical single-country collaborations, this partnership connects U.S. and Korean academic ecosystems to tackle global challenges, expand cross-border innovation, and attract industrial investments. The goal is to build a durable ecosystem that accelerates discovery, entrepreneurship, and the translation of research into real-world impact through academic programs, collaborations, and a broader joint presence in New York.
