Nous

Automates household financial tracking and contracts

Overview

Nous.co helps households manage finances by automating the tracking of service providers and contracts, alerting users to renewals and savings opportunities, and negotiating exclusive tariffs with leading brands while handling paperwork with the user’s final approval. It works by connecting to household bills and providers, monitoring important dates, and using collective bargaining power to secure better rates, then presenting changes for the user to approve. This approach combines ongoing contract tracking, in-house negotiation with exclusive tariffs, and a fully managed process, rather than just price comparison or bill tracking tools. The goal is to simplify household finances, protect families from rising costs, and reduce the administrative burden of managing contracts and bills.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • 2026 business partnerships expand distribution without adding customer-acquisition cost.
  • Nous's 2026 AI assistant broadens energy coverage toward broadband, mobile, insurance, and council tax.
  • The Sun partnership and 375k-household claim signal real consumer demand and brand reach.

What critics are saying

  • A 2026 premium trial at £6.99 risks churn when users face any billing friction.
  • Competitors can copy bill-scanning and switching; Nous lacks a defensible regulated moat.
  • If provider commissions shrink, Nous loses economics and the free product stops scaling.

What makes Nous unique

  • 2026 Nous protects 375k households with AI bill management and negotiated tariffs.
  • Its 2026 employer product gives staff free household-bill support as a workplace benefit.
  • Nous combines bill tracking, WhatsApp alerts, and switching paperwork into one consumer workflow.

What Happened When Nous.Co Hooked-Up Generative Ai To Its Users' Household Bills

With the cost of living ever more painful, and Generative AI supposedly gunning for your job, at least — for the moment — it might be here to save you some money on your household bills.UK-based cost-of-living start-up Nous.co has now launched an OpenAI-powered assistant (combined with its own proprietary systems) to help its users understand and manage their household bills. Users will be able to upload bills or connect their email inbox to have bills forwarded to the assistant automatically. It then categorises and summarises the bills, alerting customers to details and potential savings.Nous claims it can now save households up to £1,000 a year or more via its AI-driven system, and around £126 on average. It also says it can spot it when suppliers’ try to send estimated bills rather than final ones. The new feature is on the free tier of Nous membership, currently works with energy bills and will soon be extended to broadband, mobile phone and insurance documents, with alerts delivered via WhatsApp.According to the company’s own research, two thirds of people in the UK find it difficult to understand their energy bills and only 15% say they read the small print. After just over 12 months of development in private beta, Nous soon plans to offer a subscription service as its premium product, focusing on clear billing and customer reassurance regarding data privacy. The free product will serve as an onboarding tool and customer acquisition funnel for the premium service. The startup relies on open banking regulations to access consumer spending data.Greg Marsh, co-founder and CEO of Nous, told me: “We knew intellectually AI would be part of the story for this service
