Overview

Nova Scotia Health is the provincial health authority running public hospitals, health centres and community programs across Nova Scotia, Canada. Its QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax is a teaching and research hospital affiliated with Dalhousie University's medical school, and some specialized services reach patients across Atlantic Canada. Care ranges from emergency, surgery and cancer treatment to primary care, mental health and addictions, long-term care and public health. It plans services provincially, runs them locally through regional management zones and answers to Nova Scotia's health minister under the Health Authorities Act. Formed in 2015 from a merger of district health authorities, it is headquartered in Halifax.
