Novisto unveils Integrated Materiality Tool for continuous ESG Reporting. by KnowESG Novisto launches an integrated materiality tool for continuous double materiality assessments and ESG reporting. Takeaways. * Novisto has introduced an integrated materiality tool that enables organizations to manage double materiality assessments as a continuous process rather than a one-time exercise. * The platform combines AI-powered analysis, stakeholder engagement, and standardized scoring to improve transparency and audit readiness. * The solution helps companies meet evolving sustainability reporting requirements, particularly under the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Novisto has unveiled its Novisto Integrated Materiality Tool, a new solution designed to help organizations manage double materiality assessments within a single sustainability reporting platform. The launch marks a shift away from traditional consultant-led assessments by allowing businesses to continuously monitor, update, and document material sustainability issues as business conditions evolve. The platform is intended to replace manual assessment methods that often depend on stakeholder surveys, spreadsheets, and fragmented data collection. Instead of producing reports that quickly become outdated, the tool enables companies to revisit and update their materiality assessment whenever new risks, regulatory changes, acquisitions, or other significant business events occur. The launch comes as sustainability reporting requirements continue to expand across global markets. Companies reporting under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) must conduct double materiality assessments in line with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). These assessments examine both the financial impact of sustainability-related risks on a business and the organization's impact on society and the environment. Although the solution is designed with European reporting requirements in mind, its capabilities also support organizations following other sustainability frameworks. Investors increasingly expect financially material ESG information, while broader reporting standards continue to emphasize the environmental and social impacts of business operations. One of the key features of the new platform is its use of a science-based scoring methodology developed with GIST Impact. Rather than relying solely on subjective judgments, the system combines qualitative and quantitative information to produce consistent financial and impact scores across a wide range of sustainability topics. AI-powered analysis further supports the evaluation process, helping organizations compare issues such as climate change, human rights, biodiversity, workforce practices, and resource use using a standardized approach. The platform also enables companies to engage both internal and external stakeholders through built-in surveys. Feedback gathered during the assessment process can be reviewed alongside supporting evidence, while decision-making records remain linked to future disclosures. This creates a transparent audit trail that can strengthen governance and improve confidence in ESG reporting. Katherine Bruce, ESG Reporting Lead at Emirates Group, said integrating materiality directly into the reporting platform would help maintain stronger links between assessment decisions and sustainability disclosures, improving consistency, transparency, and traceability throughout the reporting process. Novisto believes organizations should move beyond viewing materiality as a periodic compliance requirement. Charles Assaf, CEO and Co-Founder of Novisto, said sustainability and risk management programs depend on strong materiality assessments, adding that businesses should manage sustainability information with the same discipline applied to financial reporting. By connecting materiality assessments directly with reporting workflows, the Novisto Integrated Materiality Tool reduces duplicate work while improving data consistency from assessment through final disclosure. The solution may also prove valuable for advisory firms that conduct sustainability assessments on behalf of corporate clients. As sustainability regulations continue to evolve worldwide, organizations are seeking more reliable ways to document decisions, preserve supporting evidence, and respond quickly to changing business risks. Novisto's latest launch reflects the growing importance of embedding sustainability reporting into everyday corporate governance, making materiality assessments a continuous part of enterprise risk management rather than an occasional reporting exercise. Novisto unveils industry's first on-demand materiality solution, fully integrated into its core sustainability platform. New offering replaces static consultant reports with a continuous, auditable framework for CSRD, ISSB, and GRI reporting. MONTREAL, Aug. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Novisto, a leading enterprise sustainability performance management platform, today announced the launch of Novisto Materiality, its new integrated solution that digitizes double materiality assessments and gives sustainability teams a structured way to identify, document, and act on their most material sustainability risks and opportunities. This capability is particularly relevant for organizations subject to the European Union's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which requires them to conduct double materiality assessments under the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). Double materiality considers both the financial effects of sustainability issues on a business and the impacts a business has on people and the environment. Double materiality isn't just a concern under CSRD. Globally, the ISSB and GRI standards together require double materiality. Organizations need a reliable, auditable way to evaluate material ESG factors for reporting, risk management, and business strategy. Helping Organizations Operationalize Materiality Historically, materiality assessments relied on qualitative surveys that lacked a common yardstick. As a result, organizations could not objectively evaluate competing impacts - like emissions versus land use - or reconcile conflicting views across stakeholders. Compounding the issue, the sheer time, effort, and expense turn these assessments into infrequent, point-in-time exercises. Organizations are often left with a static report - a rigid snapshot that quickly becomes outdated and remains nearly impossible to leverage for ongoing reporting, proactive risk management, and real-time business decisions. Novisto overcomes these challenges by delivering an on-demand, digital materiality assessment embedded directly into its platform. Powered by GIST Impact's science-backed methodology, the solution replaces subjective opinions with a standardized, data-driven scoring logic grounded in verifiable evidence. Because the framework is fully digitized, organizations can effortlessly run assessments whenever business needs arise - such as evaluating a potential acquisition - establishing an audit-ready, evidence-based foundation for enterprise ESG and risk programs. By embedding materiality directly within Novisto's core platform, clients can seamlessly move from assessment to disclosure in a single system - strengthening data lineage and streamlining auditability. "Materiality assessments involve a significant amount of stakeholder input, analysis and judgement," says Katherine Bruce, ESG Reporting Lead at Emirates Group. "Embedding materiality directly within Novisto will help us maintain a clear connection between those decisions and the resulting disclosures, improving transparency, traceability and consistency throughout the reporting process." Purpose-Built for Double Materiality Assessment Novisto Materiality enables organizations to manage every stage of the double materiality assessment process within a single workflow: * Capture primary data: Guided workflows gather standardized qualitative and quantitative inputs in one place, feeding directly into the assessment. * Generate materiality scores: AI-powered analysis produces impact and financial scores for every topic and IRO. * Engage stakeholders efficiently: In-platform surveys invite internal and external stakeholders to validate results, without relying on disconnected tools. * Document materiality decisions: Teams review, refine, and record the rationale behind each call in a traceable process that supports disclosures. * Enable assurance and audit: Verified data and documented decisions provide a clear trail for assurance, audit, and data verification needs. From Assessment to Ongoing Management Novisto Materiality is designed for organizations conducting double materiality assessments, whether to meet compliance requirements or to better understand their most important sustainability impacts, risks, and opportunities. It can also support consulting firms running assessments on behalf of clients. By pairing a robust, quantitative methodology with Novisto's sustainability management expertise and platform capabilities, the product directly embeds materiality into larger sustainability programs. What was once a static report can now be managed through a platform that makes materiality insights easier to access, explain, and use across the organization on an ongoing basis. "Materiality should not be treated as a box to check once every two years," says Charles Assaf, CEO and Co-Founder of Novisto. "We believe the effectiveness and reliability of ESG and risk programs depend on the integrity of its starting point. This launch reflects our vision of giving organizations the confidence to manage sustainability information with the same discipline as financial information." About Novisto Novisto is the all-in-one enterprise system for sustainability performance management. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Montreal, the company provides the digital infrastructure that large organizations need to manage sustainability data, disclosures, and performance with the same rigor as their financial data. Novisto helps sustainability leaders move beyond compliance and support long-term business resilience through reliable, actionable insights. SOURCE Novisto
Walking the talk: Novisto launches Project LooP to turn its ESG expertise inward. Published on July 20, 2026 Dave Karrel Today, Novisto Inc. is announcing the launch of Project LooP, a comprehensive internal initiative to embark on Novisto's end-to-end sustainability journey. The project, named 'LooP' for "Living Our Own Philosophy," will see Novisto Inc. apply the same rigor and methodology to its own operations that Novisto Inc. help global enterprises implement every day. For years, Novisto has been at the forefront of empowering companies to own their sustainability story. Now, Novisto Inc. is turning the lens inward. "We help companies manage their ESG data and narrative every single day, and we are proud of the impact our clients are making," said Andrea Masterton, VP of Marketing at Novisto and C-Suite Sponsor for the project. "With Project LooP, we are holding ourselves to the same high standard. Even as a growing business, we aren't exempt from these standards - meeting them is non-negotiable, not just because our customers expect it, but because it's simply the right thing to do. It's our turn to walk the talk." The six-month project is a company-wide effort, marshaling a cross-functional team of experts from Novisto's ESG, marketing, customer success, and people operations departments. The journey is structured across four parallel workstreams designed to build a complete picture of Novisto's environmental and social footprint. The four key workstreams include: * Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory: A foundational step where Novisto will use the Novisto Carbon module to measure its carbon footprint across Scopes 1, 2, and 3. This complex undertaking will provide a baseline for future climate action and reduction targets. Ollie Zhan, Novisto's Carbon Emissions Specialist, will lead this crucial data collection and analysis. * Double Materiality Assessment (DMA): In partnership with the experts at GIST Impact, Novisto will conduct a DMA to identify the ESG topics that are most material to its business and its stakeholders. "A materiality assessment is the cornerstone of any credible ESG strategy," explained Alicia Dery, ESG Manager and the project's Team Lead. "It ensures we focus our resources on the issues that matter most, from both a financial and impact perspective. We'll be using the Novisto platform to guide this process, just as our customers do." * Platform Onboarding: In perhaps the most unique aspect of the project, Novisto will onboard itself as a customer onto its own platform. This will provide invaluable, first-hand insights into the user experience, from initial configuration to data collection and reporting. These learnings will create a powerful feedback loop, driving improvements to the product and enhancing customer support. * Sharing the Process: Throughout the journey, Novisto is committed to documenting and sharing every step - the successes, the challenges, and the lessons learned. Project LooP is more than an internal exercise; it is a strategic move to reinforce Novisto's leadership in the market. By experiencing the very journey its customers undertake, Novisto Inc. aim to foster a deeper connection with its clients, anticipate their challenges, and innovate with greater purpose. The insights gained will be shared across the organization, informing everything from product development and sales conversations to customer success strategies. The project officially kicked off on June 19, with the initial project setup phase running through early July. The GHG inventory and Double Materiality Assessment will run in parallel through the summer, with the team targeting platform onboarding in September and final data collection by the end of the year. "This is a transformative moment for us," added Dery. "We're not just building a report; we're building a stronger, more knowledgeable, and more empathetic organization. We are excited to share what we learn and demonstrate what's possible when a company commits to living its own philosophy." Follow the complete journey with Novisto Inc. on Linkedin.
