Nuada

Point-source carbon capture for heavy industry

Overview

Nuada provides point-source carbon capture for heavy industries, using a vertical integration approach to deliver CO2 filtration systems that remove emissions at the source. The technology combines solid adsorbents called Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) with vacuum swing adsorption, creating a heatless, solvent-free process that pulls CO2 from industrial exhaust by lowering the pressure rather than applying heat. Energy-efficient filtration machines are designed for hard-to-abate sectors, helping industrial emitters reach Net Zero targets while keeping operating costs lower. Unlike systems that rely on heat or solvents, Nuada’s approach reduces energy use and capital costs, enabling mass adoption in industry. The company’s goal is to decarbonize heavy industry by providing scalable, lower-cost carbon capture solutions that integrate materials and systems end-to-end.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • April 2025 EIC and 2023 BGF funding show strong external validation and runway.
  • June 2025 and July 2026 projects create referenceable industrial evidence for sales.
  • Waste-to-energy, cement, and biomass markets give Nuada multiple near-term deployment paths.

What critics are saying

  • Commercial scale-up remains unproven; one failed 2026 deployment kills customer trust fast.
  • Idex, Heidelberg Materials, and Buzzi Unicem can switch to rival licensors or suppliers.
  • Carbon capture buyers still depend on subsidies; funding gaps could strand Nuada before revenue.

What makes Nuada unique

  • Nuada’s MOF-VPSA avoids heat and solvents, cutting energy use versus amines.
  • June 2025 pilots achieved one tonne daily capture across biomass and cement flue gases.
  • July 2026 Idex partnership targets 10,000 tonnes annually at France’s Kogeban biomass plant.
