Major investment in Alloa glass company

Major investment in Alloa glass company. An Alloa glass works facility is receiving a major funding boost. O-I Glass is investing £150 million in the facility for modernisation and expansion. The money will help modernise the plant's existing furnace, and speed up plans to install a second one. "This is fantastic news for Alloa and the wider constituency. This sector has been part of its community for generations, and this investment is a powerful vote of confidence in Clackmannanshire's industrial future. "At a time when many areas have faced difficult news around jobs and closures, this shows the huge potential that still exists here for growth and innovation. "I've long said that Alloa should play a key role in progressing Scotland's green energy future and industrial supply chain. This major investment shows exactly how that can be achieved by combining its historic industrial strengths with modern, sustainable technology. "O-I Glass's commitment to sustainability, innovation and local prosperity sets an example for others to follow. I look forward to visiting the site in the coming weeks to hear more about the plans first-hand and to continuing to support this work as it develops." Randy Burns, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer for O-I Glass, said: "Our vision is to be the most innovative, sustainable, and chosen supplier of brand-building packaging solutions. We create sustainable, innovative, brand-building glass packaging for brands around the world". "The Alloa plant transformation marks the next step in delivering our overall sustainability strategy."
